Ring Magazine announces Margarito/Mosley will NOT be for the championship

Margo isnt the ring champ and Shane is only ranked third so by the rules that they set fourth then NO it shouldnt be a title match...I read were Collins didnt feel right about making it for the title being that Margo wasnt ranked in the top two at the time that he beat Cotto, and then there is the whole Williams situation, and the fact that Shane was beatten by number 2 Cotto. Its the right choice.

 

I have a problem with that, I think that if your going to rank Williams at 147 then you have to rank him over Margo.

 

Dont really care as long as we get a quality fight with Margarito winning preferably.

It doesn't have to be the number 2 guy who takes the crown. If Mosley fights and beats Margarito at 147, he should be the new champ.

thats why they dont want to give it to Margarito, because Williams is the true champ.

Margarito, by virtue of his win over Cotto, should be the RING Champ, but I guess the geniuses over at RING Magazine decided against that..... and if Shane upsets, why would he not be RING Champion?

 

Cotto wasn't champion and Cotto and Margarito weren't the one and two rated fighters, so clearly not.

A good statement but wasn't Cotto and Margarito for the championship? I guess they never declared that. Oh well. Williams will be fighting Wright at 160 so I don't know what they expect. Another Margarito defense after Mosley? After hearing Williams fighting Wright at MW I think it would be a mistake trying to make the WW limit again.

 

No, Margarito was ranked four and Cotto one at the time, so it wasn't eligible under the normal procedures The Ring use when the title is vacant at a weight.
