there is always on token undefeated american prospect in the ring's p4p top 10. in the past it has been the likes of pavlik, williams, dawson and now it is broner. it helps hype the sport in the states. if possible it will be a golden boy fighter.

Okay, so he did it. That doesn't make it beyond reproach.

 

Because Marquez beat one of the best ranked WW in PAC while floyd went up another division and beat the best ranked jmw in cotto, while previously schooling Marquez like it was a sparring session.

Marquez can never be ranked higher than floyd.

If we're going by official scores, then Pacquiao shouldn't have dropped to #2 after unofficially losing to Marquez in their 3rd bout, and should have remained #1. Which means that going into their 4th fight, Marquez knocked out the #1 pound for pound fighter.

Ward just beat Dawson. Pacquiao is a bigger win than Dawson. Floyd just beat Cotto. Pacquiao is a better win than Cotto.

So if you lose a fight 3 years ago, you can never be ranked higher that person who beat you, even if you beat the #1 pound for pound fighter and they don't? That's ridiculous. That kind of logic operates out of the assumption that to be #1, you have to be undefeated. Leapfrogging over an opponent who previously defeated you by achieving a bigger win happens all the time in boxing. Otherwise Chris John and Norwood would rank higher than Marquez, Singsurat would rank higher than Pacquiao, Salido would rank higher than Guerrero, Margarito would rank higher than Martinez, and a nobody named Rosendo Sanchez would rank higher than Donaire. Marquez toppled Manny, Mayweather didn't. He doesn't get to absorb that win by proxy.

 

Bradley's currently a better fighter than Broner and has better wins on his resume. What has Broner done to be ranked in the top 10 at all, let alone 6?

 

I never said that, I said Marquez losing to Floyd with ease, while Floyd moved up another division to beat the number 1 ranked jmw, whilst already being considered p4p number anyway means that Marquez could never be ranked higher than Floyd if it all he has done in recent years is finally beat PAC after how many attempts?

I mean who is Marquez fighting next? PAC again, I mean how many more times do you want to fight the same guy, he won't get any more credit than he did the last time.

Floyd is fighting a top ww and may move up to fight Canelo in September. He would be fighting in 2 divisions and competing at the highest level. No one can say he doesn't deserve to be ranked higher than Marquez.

 

hes american...you only have to turn pro with an american passport to make top 10.

 

Floyd isn't what he was five years ago. He hasn't lost, but he has declined, and he still shouldn't be #1 any more. Rank him like number 3 or 4 with Pacquiao being in the 5-7 range and call it a day. Donaire and Ward have been doing more solid work than either for years, and they are both still in their primes. It's foolish to have them lower at this point.
