When you "lose" in a consensus robbery, you don't go down in rankings, unless they're computerized. Computers don't understand robberies or common sense. For example, Macklin went up in Ring rankings for "losing" a much closer, much less onesided contest. Abril went up, Campillo, etc.

 

OK we'll play your game (fantasy world, making up results etc), he's lost 2 of his last 3 he's lucky to be ranked at all...not sure what difference it makes but hey if it helps you sleep better.

 

Of course it's different, it would mean he squeezed in a p4p win in between 2 losses. Not many other guys have a p4p rated win in tha past 12 months, that's a good result.

The Ring is a far cry from what it once was when it was considered the bible of boxing now its pretty much a joke with no credibility being run by knuckleheads who DSAB.

 

That makes no sense, in that case when Bradley got the win over Pac, bradley should have been moved up to p4p number 1. Then Marquez should have been fighting Bradley for the number 1 spot. Your scenario don't make any sense.

Indeed. The whole idea of a P4P list is that it is a snapshot of who the best fighters in the world are, irrespective of weight.

The concept of a P4P rankings system is ridiculous, as the criteria for how fighters move up and down and are ranked against each other is arbitrary and varies from situation to situation. People fit the criteria around their opinions, rather than the other way round.

Broner certainly doesn't "deserve" to be ranked in the top 10 based on what he has achieved in the ring, but hand on heart I think he is one of the top 10 fighters in the world regardless of weight. It's just an opinion though, and not really backed up with any evidence at this point.

All in all though, it is pretty meaningless and not worth giving two shits about. Boxing would be in much better shape if fighters cared more about cleaning out their division in the ring rather than how some hacks think they rank against other champions they will never fight.
