I think Doug Fischers getting undue criticism here. Its like people want to believe theres a golden boy bias at the ring and Fischers the fall guy. Ive read plenty of stories where he has said things golden boy wouldnt like at all. In his gym notes on Golovkin Alvarez sparring he was much more complimentary bout Golovkin. Didnt give Golden Boys Golden child much credit at all. Ive never noticed any bias towards anyone other than Valero in his writing.

 

It doesn't fit some people's agenda to accept that Fischer is the opposite of a company man. Fischer openly criticises GBP prospects, headliners, etc.

 

There's no doubting that Fischer is a talented writer. It's his apparent partiality to GBP that people don't like. Fischer, on more than one occasion, has taken umbrage at pot shots directed at Golden Boy. When a boxing journalist feels personally insulted at criticism levelled at a promotional outfit, eyebrows will be raised. That's just the way it is.

 

I've always preferred Boxing News anyway.

 

It is shite now. I only buy it because I always have and I collect all my back issues. I am getting sick of it now. At first when I heard this story I thought it was GBP attempting to put more GBP freindly people in pl;ace but it might be what the magazine needs.
