RING MAGAZINE Had Mike Tyson At 72 In Their All Time PFP Ranking. That's Absurdly Low

Boxrec has Mike Tyson 215th currently.

I also find P4P rankings to not be very kind to heavyweights aside from Ali and Louis.

That's even more absurd. I never "got" the whole PFP concept. A 220 pound Floyd isn't Floyd anymore and a 147 pound George Foreman isn't Big George anymore

I think it's kinda flawed agreed and can de defined different. But it's a way of comparing fighters for how they did in division while being aware the fact they can't have. I think it underestimates heavyweights because most the time they can't jump up and down weight classes with 5-10 pound differences.

Hes a top 20ish HW all time. Where'd you expect that to land P4P?

it's a good ranking, although the advantage of, for example, Monzon over Jones is really huge and as big as Spinks' advantage over Tyson...
The Ring is known for its controversial rankings..
The one below from 1975 is quite funny, Ali with all his best behind him and all his worst ahead of him barely made the top 10 HW. and in 1996 he was 2nd in P4P.

Heavyweights don't usually score high on P4P lists because they only fight at one weight generally fighters who fighter at multiple weights would score higher

Also the skill level of heavyweights is a bit underrated compared to the lighter fighters.

The P4P concept, was just to simply say:

“This guy is the best boxer in the sport, based upon….”

It was never about hypothetically imagining guys being different sizes.

It was just meant to say: “This is the best boxer in the sport today, irrespective of what weight class”

We’ve got some great fighters today.

    Usyk

    Crawford etc.

    Usyk is my no.1.

Because he has great ability, and the strongest group of wins at the moment.

Mike Tyson is the only natural heavyweight to be number 1 on a Ring annual since they started making pfp rankings.

It's an abomination they dropped him all the way to 72 after seeing his entire career.

Are you sure? I looked and they seem to have him at 76. I used to have an account there but I forgot my password.

NoNeck means Ring ranked Tyson number 1 p4p at that time.

You're looking at a list that has him #72 of the last 80 years.
