Muhammad Ali, coming off his 3 1/2 year break, went straight at the #1 and #2 on that list, then took on the champ. No soft touches. And that was only right, since Ali claimed to be the world's champion too.

Still pretty incredible, though. Imagine that happening today?

    Liston in at #8. Interesting.

And I didn't know Foreman was from Hayward, California!?

He moved there, **** Sadler was a Bay Area guy. I know some who lived in his neighbor, said he was a nice guy.

Absolutely incredible. Even though he was somewhat justified in calling himself champion, no one would have objected too much if he'd taken on someone softer, maybe Boone Kirkman first off to test the waters.

These days they usually take it to the other extreme when making a comeback, find someone who's not even fit to be a sparring partner !

    The two lousiest guys. :good

Ali's record 1970 - 75 was pretty solid with no cherry picking really. If he took on a weak one here or there (Wepner, Lubbers etc.) it was usually followed by 2 or 3 solid or strong ones.

Yes, by today's standards Muhammad Ali's activity level is impressive!

Muhammad Ali and Dundee always looked like they looked at the top ten lists, and took on the very top guys, throughout his career, all the way to Larry holmes
