I'd have Mosley and Pacquiao at joint #1 right now, but I doubt they'd ever throw out rankings like that. Although I see them as joint #1, Mosley's biggest drawback has been his inactivity, even though thats not his fault. I don't agree how they put Pacquiao straight into the #1 spot after beating Cotto, but you never know, if Mosley would have fought at least once in the last year or so, the rankings may have been different.

The rankings may change on May 2nd...

I realized that Ring Magazine had lost its credibility when I saw the cover shortly after Mayweather signed to fight Marquez in that bull**** match up. It said something to the effect of the Marquez fight being a "foolish gamble" for Mayweather to take. The attempt to lend credibility to such an obviously cherry picked fight was glaringly transparant. If the magazine wasn't owned by DLH and Marquez not promoted by Golden Boy, you'd probably have seen a more honest assesment of that so called "fight".
Ring Magazine , once surely "The Bible of Boxing" is now nothing more than a propoganda rag serving Golden Boy Promotions.

No doubt, Mosley should be #1.

Yes, being inactive for a year and a half doesn't help. Pacquiao has defeated 2 top 5 contenders at 147 in that same period.

who you have higher out of mosley and pac depends on how much you factor SSM's activity (well, lack of it). The ring say that given pac has beaten two top contenders recently (including one that SSM lost to) they put him 1st. I'm fine with that. I'd also be fine with pac 2nd, it really doesnt matter tho, because after May, we will get new rankings.

Also, PBF should clearly be number 3, no higher, no lower

I'll explain it to you if you can give me some straight, 1-word answers to these 3 questions:

    - Who is currently the better fighter, Floyd or Mosley?

    - In what weightclass is Floyd currently at his best?

    - In what weightclass is Mosley currently at his best?

    this is a mere technical;ity

3 top welters are also in the top P4P, kinda makes their welterweight rankings a non issue

either way Shane should be TOP contender !! the ring title at WW is vacant since Floyd left , so shane is technically a higher ranked challenger at 47

    stop the press

I actually dont have as much a problem with it as i would have thought since Pac straight dominated Clottey (something nobody has ever done)

In the last 3 years or so.... Mosley

    Beat Margarito
    Beat Collazo

    Lost to Cotto

and since Mosleys last fight Pac has since

    Beat Cotto
    Beat Clottey

so its essentially stacking Cotto and Clottey against Margarito and Collazo, and then factor in Mosleys inactivity (not his fault, but still) and loss to cotto, and i think its closer then many people think.... hardly the crime its being portrayed as IMO.

At this stage i wouldnt mind who they have at 1 between pac and mosley....

Rankings dont just go by who peoples opinion on who the better fighter is though, dont you think you have to take in recent accomplishments at all? Mayweather has had one legit welterweight fight in the last 3 years, and it was against a 140lber in Hatton. Your going to rank that above Mosley or Pac recent works because Mayweather may or may not be 'the better fighter'? So maybe Haye fans can pronounce him number one in the division, because to them, Haye is the best at the weight? That kind of essesment simply doesnt cut it when wanting a realistic discussion of rankings. One must balance ability and worth as a fighter with their recent works at that weight when discussing their current standing FOR that weight... IMO
