Ring magazine, Is it worth getting a subscription?

If you like bias magazines then sure.

 

I do not subscribe to boxing magazines anymore, they are way too biased and the news is so damned slow.

 

Yes. Definitely worth it. If you use some Internet magazine site, you can get a year subscription for like $15. That's a lot cheaper than buying directly from The Ring.

 

The advantage to having old Ring magazines is that you can refer to old rankings.

Boxrec doesn't give you old rankings...

Ring does have a bit of credibility left, seeing as how they have not given KLIT the belt...

 

Theres a lot of **** in there...photos, results, stupid editorial opinions...not enough features...in depth...good journalism

Same writers get stale after a while

Don't buy it, just get boxing books like "Dark Trade" or "King of the World"

It is worth getting a subscription but not buying it at a news stand cuz they run for like 8 bucks. The only reason i buy them is to read bout oldschool fighters and keep me entertained when im taking a **** at work to help make time go by. believe it or not it makes 30 min go by very quick.

 

magazines are great when sitting on the toilet but other than that my computer will do

 

I actually read the ring cover to cover when i **** at work. i try to make i an obligation to **** at work at least twice a day. I figure reading the mag and shitting kills about 1 hr while at work... IF any of you guys got the latest ring mag they forgot to mention Golden boy buying the ring mag in the article "10 events that changed boxing" it should have been a little insert at least when talking about things that ruined boxing along with the abc belts.

 

im curious if they even mention the fact golden boy wants to do boxing/mma events... one of their regular writers recently ripped gary shaw for promoting both types of shows, in fact going so far as to call the mma gary shaw the "bad gary shaw" and the boxing gary shaw as the "good gary shaw"... i'm gonna guess there will be nary a mention of the golden boy travesty if the writer wants to keep his job

 

I don't think you'll see the long-term effects of GBP owning the Ring until after he retires and if the Boxing-MMA co-promoted fights are a success.

 

yes, lets you see what the rankings are at a certain time. like i wanted to see what the rankings were 97

Golden Boy promotions owns that magazine and always have their fighters on the cover or have their fighters rank high on their list.
