It's almost a year since he's fought in the division. He also won two welterweight titles fights, since then, and is most likely fighting at welterweight again.

Time to let others have a chance at capturing it.

if his next fight isn't at 140 then he should be stripped. they should make the decision after his next fight.

Remember, Ricky Hatton sat on the title for over a year when he moved up to 147 w/o being stripped.

Maybe they should. I'm not one for stripping champs of their ttles, but when you have a guy who moves up in weight with seemingly no intentions of fighting for that lower weight title anymore, then it's probably best to strip him and let the rest of the guys within that division get the shot at glory.

Well there's a reason for that... Ring magazine doesn't strip champs of their titles... and legit champs, especially heavyweighst, have sat on their titles longer without being stripped.

Right. I'm just saying that when Hatton moved up there wasn't any talk of stripping him, even though he sat on the title for a while. Same with JMM. Let's just see who he's fighting next before coming to a conclusion.

Fair enough... seems like a good idea to me. Like I said, I'm not one for stripping a champ, but in this instance when you have a champ who shows ZERO interest in fighting for his title again, then it's probably best to let the rest of the fighters who do work their asses off in that division to have a crack at the title. It's only fair.

They already mentioned it in the last issue.

Actually I probably shouldn't put too much faith in them following their own precedents, they already threw all previous precedent out the window to award Wlad a Ring belt.

That's right. Which makes this thread moot. Read about it TS.

However if Pacquiao has left the weigh class (and that is debateable) then he is basically relinquishing the title by not defending it.

The ring title is by far the best but it can't be perfect.

The other main downside I can see is if the ring champion defends his titles against nobodies.

Yeah, it's basically sorted, he's agreed to defend his title in his next fight or he will be stripped/vacate.

The Ring's not perfect but thank goodness they don't do interim titles.

I think they will strip Pac of the 140 title if his next fight isn't @ 140
