I'm stating Rng Magazine of course, -World Boxing Association did not rank Muhammad Ali vs Quarry, Bonavena, or Frazier at all

March 8, 1971 Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier
    Champion-Joe Frazier
    1- George Foreman
    2- Jimmy Ellis
    3- Oscar Bonavena
    4- Jerry Quarry
    5- Mac Foster

(Ali had to win a court case for the WBA To Recognize him back into their World Heavyweight Ratings)

^ After Ali announced his retirement in early 1970, he was removed from Ring's ratings and Ring recognized the winner of Frazer - Ellis as champ. Thus Leotis Martin, who was rated #2 behind Frazier by virtue of his KO of Sonny Liston, moved into the #1 contender spot in the May (as of 3/15/70) and June (as of 4/20/70) issues. In the July issue Martin had slipped to #5 due to inactivity and Mac Foster moved into the #1 contender spot.

I never said he was not, Ray where did I say that? As far as The Ring -Leotis Martin was ranked over Jimmy Ellis at his Unification bout vs 'Smokin" Joe Frazier in 1970, Yes Leotis Martin was ranked #1 By Ring, WBA, AND THE WBC IN 1970. He was ranked # 1 when the detached retina ended his career, he was like 5-2 with 4 knockouts vs top ten (4-1 Ring). Ring Magazine carried him one more month in the Heavy ratings at #5 . Mac Foster (24-0, 24 Knockouts) moved into the number # 1 contender slot, then relinquished it to Jerry Quarry, who lost it to Muhammad Ali.

1971 WBA- Ranked George Foreman the number one contender for at least 6 months before, they would rank Ali again. When Muhammad Ali fought Joe frazier "Battle of the Century" he was not ranked by the WBA!

Saw an absolutely great Netflixx on Muhammad Ali, said he won the title three times, as far as the WBA GOES and they are like they official rating committe for the time i'd imagine, HE WON THE WBA BELT 4 TIMES!
    1)...defeating Charles (Sonny) Liston
2)...defeating Ernie Terrell after they had took his WBA belt away.
    3)...defeating George Foreman (40-0, 37 Knockouts)
4)...defeating Leon Spinks, in a New Orleans REMATCH.

Ali came back after 3 1/2 years off. He had his manager make in offer to every member of the Ring magazine top 10 to fight. No tune-ups. #2 Jerry Quarry excepted (Jerry was the most popular fighter an America at the time, more popular than Ali). He beat Quarry, then he fought Number 1 Oscar Bonavena, and won to get the title shot.

He was very much a man.

PS; I give V. Klistchko credit for his comeback too, but not the "endless tuneup" guys nowadays.

I would say Ring Magazine was the best, my unabiased opinion, Fleicher in particular took pride in his ratings, If they WBA did not like you , they either took your title away, or corrected your world rating from a hard earned # 2 to # 9 OVERNIGHT!

Your right Ray, your absolutely right! -When they went thru the ropes for the"Battle of the Century" Joe Frazier was they undisputed World Heavyweight Champion for over a year! And why they want to change history now is a crime!
