Dont talk ****, JCC was easily one of the greatest fighters of all time, terribly underrated on ESB for some weird reason.

Talentwise he is extremely high but he pissed away his best yrs & didnt have enough victories to be no1 `greatest` & my personal opinion is that he still falls narrowly short of Robinson in a `better fighter` sense, close tho, SRL had a legit shot at becoming no1 at the time of the Finch fight in 82.

That 2 handed KO power of SRR combined with all the other qualities swings it his way IMO.

I rate him higher than that. I have him #7 of all-time.

Don't understand that comment at all. Morales is looked upon very, very favourably by boxing fans and the boxing media because of his 'warrior' attitude. His clear flaws are becoming somewhat forgotten as time goes on.

Duran is rated far too high. He never stopped a greatfighter, and the one great he beat, beat him easily in the rematch. If you look at resume, he really doesn't have great wins over great fighters. This stuff shows that charisma and machismo win out over resume and wins over greats.

Its actually the opposite I feel, because he is always involved in war type fights he gets sold a little short on a technical level...

Erik`s biggest flaw as far as a p4p elite fighter is his willingness to take a punch to land 1 or 2 back but the guy has actually got a good defense, not his strongest quality, he is a come forward, boxer/puncher with very good counter-punching ability but he throws every punch in the book technically correct, has respectable (but not intimidating) power, good accuracy, can box very well behind the jab, excellent foot-movement, can work well inside, has a granite chin, solid heart & according to Larry Merchant has the sort of will that enables men to walk over hot coals

Give Erik Mayweather`s defence & you have practically the perfect fighter.

No it shows that people with a third digit in their IQ recognise that Duran fought as a Lightweight for 12 years and in the 1980's he was a smaller guy fighting bigger guys.

Duran moving up to Welterweight is no different to Leonard or Hearns moving up to Middleweight and despite Leonard snatching a controversial win over a declining Hagler, neither Leonard nor Hearns had a record at Middleweight that could compare to Duran's win against Leonard in their first fight.

Similarly Duran going 15 rounds with a Hagler far closer to his prime than when Leonard fought Hagler, would require Leonard & Hearns to fight 25 pounds above the Welterweight limit against another all time great to match Duran in that case.

Your selling Roberto short, his achievements & domination in 1 particular weight class alone even without the Leonard victory ranks him as an ATG but what he did vs Ray in Montreal was nothing short of astonishing, arguably thee best single victory of the past 354 yrs.

glad to see Sweet Pea is in the top 10. Getting some respect. He is criminally underrated and sometimes even forgotten by too many
