Who's the Greatest Asian Fighter then????

 

Duran is one of my favourite fighters but Harry Greb should certainly be above him.

 

Duran deserves to be there or thereabouts, but I personally believe Sugar Ray Leonard should have been rated higher than him.

The list is a joke because of the placements of the great Thomas Hearns and of Roy Jones Jr. How the **** can Pernell Whitaker be number 10 if Tommy Hearns is #67?!?!? I doubt if even Sweet Pea himself would argue he should be ranked above the Hitman, and even if there are some who thinks he should be, no1 in their right mind would think he should be 57 places higher. And Roy Jones Jr should definitely be top 10 P4P. Named Fighter Of The 90s, 7 world titles at 4 weight divisions, 1st guy in over 100 years to win world title at middleweight and heavyweight, resume including wins over Toney, Hopkins, McCallum and Ruiz at heayweight. Surely that puts him above Pernell Whitaker, Carlos Monzon and Ezzard Charles??

Also, to have Felix Trinidad at #51 but Oscar De La Hoya at #75 is a joke. Did anyone at The Ring see their fight? Or take their achievements in the ring into question?? Trinidad was a great welterweight with a great punch, but he was too one-dimensional to ever be considered a great. He didn't carry his power above 147, and it was clear how little boxing ability he had v Hopkins and Wright. De La Hoya had more talent, more ability, and achieved more.

As always with these lists, the old guys are ranked higher. It's human nature I suppose, people always put the old greats on a higher pedestal and don't want to accpet their own generation being as good coz they get paid more. Sugar Ray Leonard should have been top 5 (above Greb, Pep and Benny Leonard anyway), and Hagler should have been higher than 17 (above Whitaker, Charles, Saddler and Dempsey).

I'm guessing Holyfield was only ranked above Foreman, Holmes and Lennox Lewis because of his exploits at cruiserweight, coz he was nowhere near as good a heavyweight. And Tyson ranked far far too low. His current state should not affect our memories of what a monster he was in the late 80s. He should be top 30.

 

Dempsey is too high, but Greb is rightly ranked ahead of the bigger Tunney because he arguably beat him 2-3 out of their 5 fights, regardless of the official outcomes. Not to mention he was a natural MW facing a LHW/HW, was a top 10 ranked HW(as a MW) for 7 years, and has the most extensive wins resume in the history of the sport, FAR moreso than Tunney, who's dominance outdoes his resume.

Don't speak on subjects you don't know anything about.

Why??? compare everything to Pacquiao?? Who are his EM, MAB, JMM, Sasakul And Ledwaba???

 

I was just about to say that myself, almost everything in that post is completely wrong.

1. Leonard should not be above Duran (although I don't mind if he is).
2. Hearns in no way should be above Sweet Pea.
3. Jones is not top 10 P4P, 20-30 is fine.
4. Jones should not be above Whitaker or Charles.
5. Trinidad is a great fighter, but I agree not above DLH.
6. Leonard should not be above Greb
7. Holyfield was a great fighter and deserved top 30.
8. Tyson should be no where near top 30.

I can't be bothered writing the reasons I disagree with so many things. Let's just say I think basically everything in the post is wrong and most are obvious to those who know the sport.

 

Duran is a legend. Of course he deserves this ranking, and might deserve a higher one. I know that it is blasphemy, but Armstrong (a legendary fighter) might be slightly overrated.

Jofre is easily a better win than any on Pacquiao's resume, even if the fighters Pac beat were prime(other than the first matchup with Barrera) and he legitimately won them(Marquez). I don't think that is the case with Pacs wins, and throwing guys like Ledwaba and Sasakul in there won't help you, as Harada fought and beat greater lower weight fighters.

As if beating Jofre twice wasn't enough, he also held wins over Jose Medel, Pone Kingpetch, Hawkins, Caraballo, Aoki, etc. All just as good or better than Sasakul and Ledwaba, and given the circumstances, wins over guys like Kingpetch and Medel are just as good or better than Pac's wins over a past prime versions of Morales, Barrera, and highly controversial Decision wins over Marquez.

 

And how is that?

 

Other the Jofre who else there are HOF & ATGs???
