    Did the 1970s or 1990s based on these top 10 Ring Magazine listings from 1972/1992 and 1978/1998 have more depth in their competition? Could the 1990s be considered a much more competitive decade than the 1970s and 1980s and based on the top tens listed here head to head 1972/1992

    1992 and 1998 were overall better packed divisions than 1972 and 1978. Although 1972 still had very good versions of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier while 1978 had a peaking Holmes

    When I saw the name Domingo D'Elia, it didn't ring a bell at all. Looked him up to refresh my memory, and I still have no idea who that is. Looked over his boxrec page, and the only recognizable name he'd beaten was an end-of-the-line Luis Pires (twice). Looks like D'Elia being in the top 10 doesn't bode well for 1978.

    I just think the 1991 list is stronger than the 1992 list.
