I was so angry when I learned that.

I'd read about "Luther Jackson", whose letters I do remember, in a Randy Gordon interview a few years back. If I remember correctly, his explanation of "Luther Jackson" was that they wanted to make Larry Holmes feel more appreciated. When I heard that explanation I was amused rather than ticked off.
