Why do they have Mayweather ranked at number 3? I always thought to get into the top ten you had to beat a top ten ranked fighter. I am not hating on Mayweather because skill wise he is probably the best but he does not deserve that ranking.

This point has been brought up multiple times.
The only top 10 WW's he's beaten are Judah and Baldomir and those 2 speak for themselves.

I was thinking more about how ring magazine could justify putting him at number 3 based purely on the JMM fight. Before that he was not ranked because of his semi-retirement.

Because of his status when he left.
They probably just figured he deserved to be in the top 5.

Guys, this isn't exactly a case of an underserving up and comer skyrocketing in the rankings. He was number 1 p4p when he "retired" and anyone who isn't a ****** knows he is one of the best fighters on the planet.

The last Ring champion at welter and he's still undefeated... short layoff came back and still looked sharp,,,,Marquez wasn't a welter but Floyd showed he was still in the mix, undoubtedly.

    Yeah this.

It's like Vitali getting a title shot after all those year he's been out, nobody really complained then because its obvious with his resume' he deserved it, same rule applies

cause he beated Judah, Baldomi, Hatton and Marquez at Welter in the last 4 years...

nr 2. Shane mosley has had 3 fights at welter the last 8 years beating collazo and margarito and loosing to cotto....If you want you can count cruz and estrada too...

Pac has had only 2 fights at welter... Beating DLH and Cotto, but cotto was at 144..

What you're saying doesn't make any sense. To be in the top 10 all you have to do is be one of the 10 best fighters at that weight. Floyd obviously is.

I see your point with Vitali. The difference is that he came back and beat Samuel Peter who at the time was a highly ranked heavyweight. Floyd deserves to be ranked number 2 p4p but I always thought the rings divisional ratings were based on who you had beaten.

I see your point but if Pacquiao's ranked higher than mayweather then thats another misjudgement going by your thoery

Pacquiao has only fought twice at WW beatng Cotto and DLH, Cotto was at a cachweight and DLH wasn't a WW he was a LMW so Pacquiao hasn't fought a legit 147 fighter at 147 yet

Pacquiao should not have been rated after the DLH fight(they put him at number 5) i agree. But beating Cotto at 145 I think was a good enough win to put him number 1 in WW rankings.

    You guys are wrong.

Floyd comes back and fights a lightweight in WW division.
Pacquiao fights DLH at WW limit of 147.
Cotto says he had no problem with 145. still WW division.

Also, if floyd gets WW credit, it shouldn't be for hatton and judah, they were mainly 140 fighters.

So which 10 welterweights would you place ahead of him in your rankings?
