I always have problems with these lists, so I ignore them. All I know is that, in my opinion, Floyd and Joe are the best technical boxers out there today. There's the number one and two spots right there, as far as I'm concerned. :yep

It's about who you PROVE yourself against, not who the public THINKS you CAN beat.

Your thought process is very illogical.

PFP is about proving yourself, bottom line and Winky and Hopkins have proven themselves aganst the best fighters out there time and time again.

I think Chad Dawson can beat Hopkins and Calzaghe, so I guess he should be my number 2 pfp guy.

I love this new logic from you morons!

    You must prove yourself!

Proving yourself in the past is not the same as proving yourself now. Vitali proved himself in the past and hasn't lost since then. he is talking of a comeback should we just throw him in there?

There are plenty of guys right now proving themselves more than Winky and Bernard. For example Pavlik proved himself twice against the guy that beat bernard twice and hled winky to a draw.

If you think Dawson would beat Hopkins and Calzaghe if they fought in 2-3 months, then, yeah! Dawson should be higher in you p4p list because he is a better fighter, according to you, than Hopkins and Calzaghe!

If that were not how it worked, why would Winky be 9th...when he lost to an old, faded Hopkins? Shouldn't he be much lower?

Dawson has to prove it dude, he has the talent to be a top pfp guy but he needs to fight someone so we can find out how good he is.
you are actually correct ...and thats why Pavlik is a top pfp guy, not because back when he beat Zertuche and Miranda everyone thought he was one of the best.

He is now one of the best because he PROVED it!!

It's pound for pound, Winky is not meant for 175, he is meant to fight at 154-160, 168 tops.
He was competitive with the Lt Hvywt Champ of the world and he is a smaller dude, so ya, he proved he is still a top pfp guy.

Oh, I agree Hopkins is older and faded, but he still beats everyone around his weight class, except Calzaghe imo...thats why he is PFP.

Winky is not above Hatton, Cotto or even Mosley. Mosley can be somewhat debateable because Wright has wins over Mosley.

I don't know why one should bother about this - The Ring is as much a non-independent institution as the Commissions they call alphabet organizations. They have to protect their Ring Champions as the Commissions protect their top-rated fighters. They are not going to leave their Ring LHWT, JR WW and other champions out of their P4P ratings - most of these guys just fight for the Ring belts these days and they gat to get their reward in propaganda... I already have second senses about all Ring Mag articles.

Winky has beaten and gone even with all of the guys he has fought across a few weight classes, Hatton has not.

Cotto hasn't beaten the same amount of top guys that Winky has and Winky is still fighting at a high level.

Mosley/Cotto/Winky are all close, but Winky is the best, thats a fact.

The problem is this. According to The Ring:

Winky is the 9th best fighter in the world. Why? Because he lost to Hopkins, who was a top 10 p4p fighter, so Winky couldn't be that bad. After beating Winky, Hopkins climbed to the fourth best in the world position. But why was Hopkins so highly rated in the first place? Because he beat Tarver! Right, so Tarver must have been a top 10 fighter too, right? Sure! Because he beat Roy Jones! Right...so why is Tarver not a top 10 fighter then, but Winky is? They both lost to Hopkins and no one else, in the meantime! In fact, Tarver won two fights since then; Winky didn't! So shouldn't Tarve be ahead of Winky? No, because Winky fought Hopkins at the wrong weight! Right, so in that case why is Hopkins getting so much p4p credit for that win? Because he lost to Taylor twice, who isn't in the top ten and whose conqueror Pavlik is also not in the top 10? It doesn't make sense!

According to The Ring logic, Pavlik should be ahead of Taylor who should be ahead of Hopkins who should be ahead of Tarver and ahead of Winky, who should be be ahead of Taylor, since he didn't lose to Pavlik. :nut

So...Winky should be both ahead of and behind Hopkins. Ahead because he drew with the man who beat Hopkins twice and after because he lost to Hopkins.

Taylor should be ahead of Hopkins because he beat him twice.

Pavlik should be ahead of Taylor because he beat him twice.

Tarver should be ahead of Winky because he won some fights after being beaten by Hopkins and behind Winky because he was beaten by Hopkins at his weight.

In other words, The Ring Rankings should look like this, according to The Ring logic:

    Pavlik
    Taylor
    Hopkins
    Pavlik
    Taylor
    Tarver
    Winky
    Tarver
    Winky

...and if Hopkins is p4p no. 4, Taylor should be p4p no. 3, since he beat Hopkins twice, and Pavlik should be p4p no.2, since he beat Taylor twice...

But if Hopkins can be above Taylor too, since he beat the man who drew with Taylor, Hopkins can be p4p no. 1. QED. There you have it.

Hopkins is the best fighter in the world.
