I'd put Chagaev and Ibragimov above Peter. Not Maskaev though since he hasn't fought in 13 months.

    Ibragimov should be above Valuev

No major qualms with this list, although I do think Gomez deserves a spot over the inactive Lyakhovich at this point.

BTW, I thought a fighter was no longer eligible for Ring rankings if they haven't fought in over a year? I know Lyakhovich is scheduled to fight Valuev, but he hasn't fought since 2006....

Is Thompson not the only American on the list?
Do Thompson and Peter speak Russian?
Do the remaining eight speak Russian and are they from the former Soviet Union?

I do agree, ignorance is bliss :good

Well most of the people in South and Central America speak Spanish but we do not call them Spaniards, right.

I think its okay if we refer to them as Russian, we know what we mean, which is good enough. Its not like what nation they are from is relevent.

From now on those chubby white guys with the funny names will be known as 'The Russians'!

Thats a pretty accurate list, I myself couldnt rank Peter any lower than 3. And theres no way you can really rank Iggy above Peter, Peter beat Toney and Mccline, who are better wins than Holyfield and Briggs. Briggs lost to Mccline a couple years back and Toney knocked out Holyfield. Chagaev and Wlad are the only two other fighters I could possibly see being ranked above Peter on this list IMO.

The difference being that the eight Russian speaking contenders/Champions originated from the same fcking country THE SOVIET UNION which while they existed had one flag and only played the Russian National Anthem during the Olympics. Are/were those countries in South/Central America governed from the same capital such as Moscow?

Check "The American Century Dictionary" Look up "Russian"

    1. Native or National of Russia or the former Soviet Union
    2. Slavic language of Russia
    3. Of Russia, the former Soviet Union,it's people or language

That is the definition of "Russian" by the American Dictionary

New World Dictionary Of The American Language

    "Russian"
    1. of Russian it's people,their language
    2. a native or inhabitant of the Soviet Union

Yes, since the 8 contender/Champions fall under those definitions by American standards they are considered "Russians"

Peter and Maskaev are too high.

    Ibragimov is too low.

I think that you confuse "lacking talent", with "lacking American Appeal". There is plenty of talent, everyone on this side of the pond just doesn't know the fighters well enough. Hell, people were ready to call Dominick Guinn the next Tyson/Ali mixture before he was exposed... as I said he would be.

Thats like saying Indian People are Brithis because they where part of the Great Britannia 50 years ago. Only two Russian in current top-10 list.
