[Ring P4P update] Martinez moves to #3, Donaire drops to #4

Why is Donaire above Marquez? What has he accomplished that makes him greater?

 

Williams was p4p, Kelly the favorite to beat Martinez,and Dzinziruk a solid 154lb champ that has never been dropped in his entire career, even in the amateurs. Beating him is as good as beating a Kirkland, an Angulo, or a Cintron. No one could of beaten a technical fighter like Dzin the way Sergio did. That is why Sergio deserves the high praise.

 

Imagine the current Donaire and JMM at the same size. Who wins?

 

P4P rankings are more about what you've done recently I think (no doubt Marquez ranks higher all time).

I would imagine wins over Sidorenko and Montiel are better than wins over Diaz and Katsidis.

 

You wont get a strong argument from me here... But think about this Nonito beat the better figther in Montiel(top 10 pfp) and was moving up in weight and the ko was more explosive and quicker... Martinez beat a guy moving up to fight him (Maybe top 40 or 50 pfp)... If they were gonna do this they should have just waited till Martinez fight before ever putting Nonito above him in the first place.

 

p4p list are worthless anyways everybody has different opinions.. i have martinez #1

It's odd he moved up after for beating the number 8 ranked Ring jr middle at middleweight. They're making a mockery of their rankings. It's probably right though that Martinez is #3, he has beaten better fighters than Donaire recently. Donaire just should not have been moved past Martinez in the previous list. Seems Ring panelists gets caught in the hype after a big victory as much as the rest of us.

If they're starting to move fighters over one another from fight to fight, then it's about time they drop Mayweather. He's had one fight in the time Pac and Martinez will have had 4. Pac gets criticised and some even claim he should be dropped from #1 p4p for fighting Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and Mosley. In the same period Mayweather's fought Mosley, no-one, no-one and no-one.

 

Pac by KO!... But in reality...if you ask Pac to go to 154-160..pac gets beat. But if you ask Sergio to go to 147..Sergio gets beat...Pac's max weight is 147.

 

apart from recent accomplishments, pound for pound rankings are loosely based on fighters being compared to one another with the consideration of all things being equal. If Pac could retain his movement, speed, punch power and punch resistance at 160, he could beat Martinez.

 

Judging by your avatar he could beat ali to.

Listen pac has looked great against flat footed opponents coming off of big loses. The last time he fought a guy who wasn't flat footed he was given hell. Imagine what martinez a slick boxer with power would do to pac. Go look back at the marquez fights if you want to know.

yeah probably. It just doesn't make sense for them to be moving fighters over one another on a fight by fight basis like they've done with Martinez and Donaire, and then to leave Floyd untouched when he's done nothing for almost a year.

 

It's just an avatar man, you;re the second poster to say that today..no-ones saying he could beat ALi..Sugar Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong couldn't beat Ali either..when you match fighters up p4p you have to do so with all things being equal..in that case, Pac does have a chance to beat Martinez..As things stand though Martinez would probably give him a beating if they were to fight. It wouldn't be an even fight with Pac likely giving up 20lbs if he was to be at his optimal weight, or if he packs on the lbs to make the fight he likely won't be able to carry his speed and power up, his movement which he relies so much on would be effected with the extra weight and and his punch resistance would be diminished against a much bigger puncher than he is accustomed to
