Mike Tyson was huge in an era when boxing was big in America.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, is bringing boxing back in the minds of Americans. He is putting boxing back in the news. His PPV numbers come in a time when boxing is not even mainstream. And he's not even done yet in the ring, where Tyson essentially was after losing to Douglas.

    :deal

boxing wasn't that huge. It was more popular though for sure, but still.

If you get an explosive and exciting american heavy weight like Mike in the ring and a controversial figure and charismatic outside the ring, then you'll have a star

During an era where boxing was still big in America.

Pacquaio is putting up big PPV numbers in an era where boxing struggles to make mainstream news.

    Mike Tyson is a G.

Shouldn't he be able to outdo Mike's PPV record then? manny is also in Floyd's era, a time where boxing struggles like you said, but couldn't break the record like Floyd.

Yet, haters can't provide one documentable evidence that Pac ever cheated. No failed tests, no BALCO scandal, no emails, hell not even a whistleblower willing to show his face or name.

Keep reaching. Maybe you'll find it someday.

He's already surpassed Whitaker as the greatest southpaw I've ever seen. I don't know for sure if he's better than the greatest Phillipino, Pancho Villa, but I suspect that he is.. MOST IMPORTANT FIGHTER SINCE ALI ERA? Boxing just isn't as popular or as important as it used to be, so I don't know. I would say that he is so obviously the closest to Duran that any old timer has seen since then.. so why do the old timers on here not recognize that? Pacquioa is intimidating=to Duran. :deal Ferocious and skilled to burn.. either or all night.

Someone even broke that record during a time where boxing isn't as popular as it was during Tyson's time
