Wait a minute...How did an old timer like Moore get in such great shape without modern nutrition/training methods/advanced supplementation etc..could it be that "old school" training methods actually did/do work?

One day in the 1940s, at Stillman's gym who walks in and stands a few feet from me, but a nattily dressed Archie Moore along with some chicks. You would never think he was a fighter dressed up to the hilt. A truly great fighter was Archie blessed with intelligence and class...The Old Mongoose...

How did Archie Moore get his great physique ? He would do a pushup, lift his feet off the floor and walk around the room only on his hands, thus his powerful arms...What a group of rival LH's
Archie had to fight ? Ezzard Charles, Jimmy Bivens, Lloyd Marshall, Harold Johnson, Eddie Booker, Curtis Sheppard etc.:patsch

Mongoose lied about his age. He was actually 64 when this was taken.

Burt every time you post I go green with envy. To have seen the old timers in person and in the ring...Oh well...keep posting!

I actually met Archie in the early 80's when he was in town at Gleason's Gym when it was on West 30th in NYC .. He was pretty old but still a physical presence and a hell of a gentleman .. he was very well respected by the elders at that place ..

gj,Yes I haven't even dug into most of my memory's as I don't want to come across as an "old fogey" which I am chronologically
but not in spirit. But I would gladly exchange my memory's for your age in return. Yessir...

Archie Moore was much older than you think, cause I saw him on the undercard when David kod Goliath at the Coloseum...
