Wow, I remember there was something similar at one point at Welter, but check this out so we have the following

    champion Canelo 61-2-2
    1 Benavidez (29-0)
    2Mbilli (27-0)
    3Morrell(10-0)
    4Munguia (43-1....though be was 43-0 until recently)
    5Osleys Iglesias (11-0)
    6Pacheco(21-0)
    7Shishkin(16-0)
    8Bazinyan(32-0-1)
    9Berlanga(22-0)
    10Lester Martinez(18-0)

I'm guessing Plant is out because of inactivity but damm that's wild.

For my own amusement I looked at the other divisions, here are how many undefeated fighters are in each weight class, not counting the "champion) just the top ten

    Heavy 2 out of 10
    Cruiser 0 out of 10
Lt heavy 5 out of 10
Super middle 9 out of 10!!!!
    Middle 4 out of 10
Jr middle 3 out of 10
    Welter 5 out of 10
Jr welter 4 out of 10
    Lightweight 7 out of 10
Jr lightweight 2 out of 10
    Feather 2 out of 10
Jr feather 2 out of 10
    Bantam 4 out of 10
Jr bantam 2 out of 10
    Fly 3 out of 10
Jr fly 0 out of 10
    Straw 5 out of 10

It's a very interesting division with all these undefeated fighters, the most of any division. One would think it's partly because we've had an Undisputed Champion for as long as we've had, though there could be other factors as well.

Canelo vs Shishkin would be an interesting match. He's expressed interest in fighting Canelo, and he's #2 in the IBF Rankings. If Canelo vs Scull isn't going to happen, then Shishkin would be next in line for a title shot or for a match against Scull for #1 contender.

If Canelo is looking for an opponent for September, why not make an offer to Shishkin, who, while Russian has been fighting in the States for years and apparently has been looking for a big money fight. Watching some film on Shishkin, he looks pretty good.

As a Canelo fan, as much as I want to see him fight Benavidez, really I just want to see him in fights against the top contenders of the division. He did that against Munguia, but out of all of the guys #5-#10 I think Shishkin would be the one that intrigues me the most. And unlike #2 and #3 who have fights scheduled, Shishkin doesn't appear to have a fight scheduled, so maybe he's available and would take such an opportunity.

Both Cubans (Morrell and Iglesias) are WAY better than Shishkin. Both would KO Shishkin

Canelo vs Shishkin wouldn't be a complete mismatch only if Canelo is totally shot (which he isn't)

    Wild stat for sure.

Hate to be cynical but the top 10 should be fighting each other to work their way up the ranks. so in a way this stat is not great at all. All just waiting for their Canelo pay day, probably

It's curious that the #1 ranked IBF contender William Scull, another Cuban, isn't even in the Ring Top 10, but the #2 ranked IBF contender, Shishkin, is. I guess my question to you is who would you favor in a fight between Scull and Shishkin, and why?

I will say that Iglesias does look scary, and Morrell is obviously a great talent. But Shishkin seems to be more seasoned and experienced. He's had an extensive amateur career and is much closer to Canelo's age, compared to Iglesias and Morrell who are much younger. Just watching some footage of Shishkin, he seems to have a good all around skillset.

Considering the apparent deal Canelo has made with Scull, which apparently has allowed him to delay fighting Scull without having to relinquish his IBF title, wouldn't mean that he has any obligation to fight Shishkin, other than stylistically it would seem to be an interesting matchup. I mean if it came down to him fighting Shishkin or Berlanga, I would see Shishkin as more of a challenge.

It shows that the best don't fight the best.

I think Shishkin will outpoint Scull.

    Canelo RTD5 Scull
    Canelo RTD10 Shishkin
    Canelo KO3 Berlanga

Both Scull and Shishkin are better than Berlanga

It just shows no one is willing to risk their 0. Highlighting what is wrong with boxing. A whole division of guys not fighting each other.
