"RING RUST" Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

    Some of the same people who call Floyd a chicken for not fighting more of a threat in his first fight after a 16 month layoff, saying that he shouldn't fight Marquez, regardless of "ring rust"... Are some of the same ****in idiots who don't give PW full credit for beating the **** out of Winky because, well... Winky had "ring rust" because he was inactive for 16 months.

    In the words of Chris Tucker in Rush Hour: "Do you understand the words that are comin out of my mouth?"

    Someone explain to me how Floyd can't have ring rust, yet Winky definitely had ring rust...

    By the way, Marquez is not as much of a pushover as you clowns are making it seem. I think people are just trying to downplay him so that if Floyd wins you can downplay his victory.

    I bet you right now, that Marquez will whip Michael Jennings ass! And Gomez. And Golden Johnson, and even Sergio Mora on a good day.

    What are you talking about? Seriously I havent heard anybody really talk **** about this fight at all nor have I seen anybody down play it, sure they discuss size but come on that is expected.

    Floyd taking this fight after having a long lay off against a guy who has been active who has gone life and death with manny pacquiao, this is not a gimme fight.

    Floyd could have come back and fought a much lesser opponent and wouldnt have gotten any **** for doing so, everybody knows with a long lay off like that he could have come back and fought Carlos Maussa or a Vivian Harris type of fighter rather than Marquez.

    Honestly this tells you something, Floyd wants that P4P title back and he is taking no short cuts to get there, he is walking into the jaws of the lion IMO in this fight.

    a guy like Marquez who has been active will prove to be a stiffer task than most think, and I give Floyd full credit for comming back and taking this specific fight because he really didnt have to, his star power is enough for him to take a much softer fight, and secure a fight with Pacquiao down the road later this year or early next year.

    So all of this Floyd wont get credit or **** like that, if you dont give the man credit for taking this specific fight you just dont know boxing.

    I agree 100%. Overall, people are excited about this fight. It's a given that some people on these forums will complain no matter who is fighting. Overall though, writters, commentators and fans are looking foward to this fight. The size is a concern, but JMM is skilled enough and works hard enough where he can overcome that. The layoff by Floyd will help to mitigate the size issue.

    So then do you agree that if someone uses that "built in excuse" for Winky that it's bull****?

    Nah, Winky tried his best, PWill just had the octopuss punching working 100% that fight.
    (Prob would have beat Any version of Wink, IMO)

    I totally agree Marquez is a good opponent. And he's no gimme for anyone, whether there's ring rust or not...

    But don't try to act like people here aren't talking **** because Floyd didn't come out and choose Shane, PW or Cotto. Read the thread titles. Most knowledgeable fans understand how goos a fighter Marquez reallly is. But it's the idiots I'm talkin about.

    OK... I can respect that.

    You are one who feels ring rust isn't an excuse. I tend to agree with this thinking. Just apply it consistently.

    This is the same thing i was trying to point out in another thread. Its ok for Cotto and Marg to comeback and fight bums but not ok for Mayweather to comeback and fight a legitimate challenger.

    I havent really heard anybody talk **** about that, Honestly I think people are well aware that Floyd is after this P4P title more than anything right now, Manny Pacquiao has positioned himself to be a special rare ATG on the level of a Ray Robinson and Joe Louis I think FLoyd wants to take that.

    This is about legacy at this point, winning welter weight titles will not get him what a win over a prime peak Manny Pacquiao will.
