ring`s website denies jmm`s lack of speed

in think jmm's speed is a problem but its not good business to admit that. jmm is an underdog and if they admitted there was a problem the business with the bookies will go down as no-one will take a risk in bettin on jmm. also there wont be any hype either.

conclusion jmm is having problems but they may have been exaggerated and now there (ring mag) covering it up.

 

Nacho is talking out of both sides of his mouth, seems like there is division in the camp.

 

I googled a little and couldn't find a source for these "Marquez lacks speed" comments other than Philboxing which is totally unreliable

It is Phil from Philboxing who wrote an article quoting Beristein as saying that JMM lacked speed with bulking up......

....bro, its these journalists jobs to create controversy and concerns and get people to click on their link.....

First off, we all knew that JMM had to bulk up to fight at Welter......logically he's not going to be as fast at Welter than he was at featherweigtht.
......Mayweather himself is not nearly as fast today than he was at his 130 lbs days.....

For just about every elite boxer's training regimen, the last phase of their preparation for a fight is their speed regimen. Working on timing and speed.

What surely happened is that someone heard Nacho stating that Marquez was bigger and stronger, but that now the concern all the way to fight time is to make sure Marquez comes through properly with his speed training regimen, which will be one of the last phases or his training.

Any trainer would be somewhat antsy and conscious worried to make certain his fighter got there considering that he's bulked up.
But I am absolutely certain, that neither Beristein or JMM are panicked that they are not going to get to the speed point that they wish.

Concern, maybe, but panicked, absolutely not.

I have no reason to believe that a fighter and trainer of the proffesionalism of JMM and Beristain, will do everything in their power to be 100% ready on fightnight.

Remember now, JMM and Beristain have been together from day one, and they know how to work with eachother better than most fighter/trainers.

I'm a Juan Manuel Marquez fan. We dont need fear and pessimism at this point in time nearing the fight.

What we need here now is optimism and trust in both JMM and Nacho Beristain's proffesionalism and know how.
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that when Juan Manuel Marquez walks up the ring ropes and enters the ring on September 19th against Floyd Mayweather, he will be primed, ready and focused for only one thing...............

C'mon now... There's no need to even discuss this. We knew 2 years ago like we know now Marquez is much slower these days, even at his optimal weight. He wasn't going to get faster moving up.

 

that's what i'm worrying about. at lower weights, jmm has underrated speed. but bulking up to 144, i don't know if he would retain it.

I really thoguht he looked bad in yesterday 24/7. Either he was loading up into every punch or he was just seriously slowed down. I fear it's the latter. He looked slower in virtually every aspect, and spent too much time falling towards the ropes.

This is looking really bad. I ignored my guy reaction after watching Jones look terrible in his pre-Zag workouts and Hatton looking terrible in his pre-Pac workouts, this time I can't. I'm still putting a few bucks on Marquez to win for the hell of it, but I give him less than a 10% chance now. He needs a KO punch to the body, and it's more likely he gets shredded to bits in the process. His head movement reflexes looked slow too, there's no way he can dodge

If Marquez wins, it's going to be an amazing victory like Margarito-Cotto, where he takes a brutal beating but somehow stays on his feet long enough to catch him with a few rib-breaking body shots. Even if he wins, this is surely Marquez's last hurrah, either he takes a terrible beating in a loss or a miracle win, or loses a decision after being hesitant.

I'm very happy he got his big payday here, but his time as an elite fighter is seriously running out.
