    Two questions..

Could somebody please explain to me how much of a differences there are in ring sizes? And as such, does it benefit/hinder fighters???

Secondly, Why is it necessary for the fighter to move to a neutral corner after a knock-down???

Have you seen old footage of boxing.
The guy that got KD'd would be hit before he was even up. No 8 count before.
    Was legal before.

it's not neutral corner, it's furthest neutral corner

generally an Outfighter will like a bigger ring and a fighter who likes getting on the inside will like smaller rings. As far as i have seen the Pro ring varies from 18-18 to 23 by 23 ft ring

Neutral so the corner doesn't advice him during the round

A boxer/technician will generally favour a larger ring size to make it easier to fight at distance, use the jab and dance around the ring. Whereas, a brawler/infighter will favour a small ring size to enable them to close the distance and get inside with their punches. Leonard gave up a little in the purse share vs Hagler to get a larger ring, which favoured him in their fight in 1987.

i think, for example, a fighter like a mayweather would prefer a bigger ring for more space to work their magic.

while a fighter, like say, an alfredo angulo or a margarito would like a small one so they can box you in to do damage. right?

Boxing ring size should be uniform for weight class. I hate the fact that a runner can demand a huge ring. It demeans the sport.

    Boxing needs a uniform EVERYTHING!

    Champion,
Glove Sizes (Differing through weight classes)
    Ring Sizes,
    Sanctioning Organisation,

    etc etc etc

Honestly, it REALLY pisses me off that unifications aren't demanded... Four belts is manageable, but why can't they force unification?

    1 Ring Size
    1 Sanctioning Body
    1 Champion Per Division
    1 Glove Size Per Division
    8 Weight Divisions

    Keep dreaming the dream.

Oh to dream the impossible dream! Think how much better off the sport could be if that were the case, but too much self interest pervades.

Look at the fight Lewis got dragged into with Mercer because of an 18 foot ring. Tiny to a man of his size. Leonard against Hagler is the perfect example of what advantage a big ring can do for boxer who wants to move. Has already pointed out.

    OSDT year round.
    Neon Gloves
A new inter continental pan latin belt

All we would need is a bobsled and it could be the olympics

Because Boxing isn't a league. One promoter doesn't hold a majority of the trump cards, and the one that nearly did(or did at one point) decided that instead of putting on great fights he would milk the sport for every dime he could extract.

EDIT: Looking at the UFC, they are the supergiant in the room. They control their own belt and rankings, giving the company incredible control in making fights. In boxing where mandatory defenses occur, don't happen in the UFC. Champions don't get stripped because of injury or politics. Everything is handled in house so that everyone is working on the same page to grow the common goal. Where as in boxing, every camp(promoters, boxers, belt orgs, SACs, etc.) is out for themselves.
