Should the "Ring magazine award" title be on the line in the Wlad Klitschko versus David Haye fight?

My reasoning behind this is that Wlad won't fight his brother (number 2) and that Chagaev (number 3) looks inactive.

Haye is a former ring champion at 200lbs and WBC, WBA and WBO.

Perhaps the Ring Magazine could put their title up too.

The concensus is that Wlad is number 1 anyway.

Could the ring create a ruling allowing one of their champions moving up in weight a crack at the ring belt above if they fight for it?

I suppose if they start changing their own rules and just making it up as they go along, they would lose a lot of respect and be seen as the same as the alphabet titles.

VK and WK are 1 and 2 so when their mother isnt watching they really should fight, it would be the heavywieght fight of the decade

The sanctioning bodies make up their championship rules as they go along, I'd rather the Ring stick to theirs. Beat the man or #1 vs. #2. Hell, #1 vs #2 is already a potentially monsterous grey area.

Whatever shreds of credibility the Ring still has, it should try to hang on to. Next thing you know, we'll have Ring Champion in Recess.

    Absolutely not. #1 v #2, or exceptionally, #1 v #3. That's it, black and white.

    No.
No 1 has to fight no 2 or at least no 3.The criteria ain't in application here.

The ring title should not change its rules. If the top two guys don't want to fight each other, then that means they are not interested in proving who "the champ" is. The Ring ratings are there to proclaim "the champ".
Wlad and Vitlai don't want to be "the champ" they just want to be belt holders.
It's understandable, yet unfortunate. I would not expect anyone to fight their brother, but at the same time, it's bad for boxing.

wlad should have gotten the ring title after he beat iggy, who arguably was the #2 at that time.

Eventually we are going to see #1 and #3 fight and The Ring will make that for the belt. So a Klitschko will end up with The Ring belt.

I thought the #3 thing was only if the #2 is unavailable (i.e. injured). Klitschko vs Klitschko is available, just unwilling.

No if Haye beat's Wlad then the ring Title would be on the line for Haye vs Vitali and a new lineage would also be started i think.

This is the reason they have rules, so a guy like hayes would have to prove himself before he gets a shot at the title,,,they are trying to set up the best possible fights for someone to gain there title, not some dog **** who got KD from barrett, an runs his mouth so much, is the only reason wlads fighting the guy, thay an cause the guy execpt peanuts for a payment (10% of the pursee ha ha ha ha)
