a couple of recent Ring magazines have stated Wlad will not be recognized as true champ even after he beats Iggy. They maintain he must beat Peter again, even calling his decision victory "odd", to be recognized as the recognized champ.

Personally, if he destroys Iggy, that will be good enough for me. I point to four factors. One, Wlad will be a unified champ, no matter how much that upsets Ring and Golden Boy. Two, nobody in the hw division has clearly established themselves as a clear #2. So in my mind, beating Sultan is just as good as beating chagaev, povetkin, peter, etc... Third, total unfication will be near impossible for a variety of reasons. Finally, Wlad will have beaten five top 10 hws in his last 6 in devastating fashion, therby demonstrating domination over his weight class.

They don't have Iggy rated number two so they are simply following their rules.

I used to hold Ring in very high regards, especially comparing to the ABC organizations. However, after it was purchased by DLH (who is # 3 rated according to his magazine), this publication has no credibility whatsoever, at least in my view.

I bet when DLH wins against the undersized Forbes he will be moved to #1 sport again.

So..... he would have to beat the guy that he already beat? lol... not beating an undefeated fellow titleholder???

lol... i used to really really respect the ring, and i also held them above all other titles as the one true one, but this... this is just ****ing ******ed in my opinion.

i understand that but maybe they should start thinking about making exceptions. Looks at their #2-6 hws. each guy could be ranked 2 or 3. i wish they would try to apply the spirit of the rule and not go by them without interpretation.

God you lot are so melodramatic. They are just following their rules.

DLH was rated #3 BEFORE he bought the magazine. He has been in that position for a while.

As for the fans deciding who champions are, I don't agree with that either, unless there are extreme circumstances. Fighters now get overhyped after one big win and the fans are liable to call them champion even when they haven't proven it. There are exceptions of course. Wlad is the top HW, Juan Diaz is the champion at LW in most people's eyes despite Casamayor's lineal status.

That was a travesty and the issue I DO have with Ring's rules. Special Circumstances allows for #1 vs #3 to meet for the title. No one knows what the circumstances are though, and how they decide them. I simply don't like the posts that suddenly blame DLH for stuff that was happening prior to his taking over Ring.

What are you talking about? I don't see him in the ratings before he purchased it.

He was rated at #3 when he fought Mayweather. I know this for a fact because it was a point of contention between myself and Bigtime9 who claimed that DLH was "The top fighter" at 154, when he wasn't, Spinks was.

The rankings you just displayed BTW, are very old. DLH just bought the magazine a few months ago. The rankings you displayed are from before Judah's fight with Baldomir. Those rankings are 2 years old.

:deal Think of the precedent that would set if they gave him the belt w/o even beating #3.

I he needs to add the WBC and WBA to his IBF to be the real undisputed champ. I know a lot of his fans are desperate to call him the champion but it's simply not how things are done.

Exactly. A point that seems to be lost on these people. If the WBC tried pulling something like that they'd be calling for Sulaiman's head.

    Totally agree.:good
