    ..........and that's total bull****.

Sultan beat Briggs, who beat Liakhovich, who beat Brewster.

Those are some good names, okay, he had a draw with Austin, but he KO'd Goofi Whitaker & Mora nicely.

Sultan also defended against old Holyfield, which is at least as good as Okhello, who Maskaev fought as a voluntary.

I'm just being logical here. The truth is that an argument can be made for Sultan or Ruslan as the #2 and the innactive Maskaev & FAKE interim champion Peter as #3 & #4.

Peter may have had an argument if he would've dominated & KO'd McCline but he didn't.

Well, i'm going to disagree because this is the first Unification fight in years and Wlad is clearly the best HW right now.

by their rules i guess he cant but he already beat the number 2 guy and would be unified so they should just give it to him

I still think Peter is over rated anyhow....we'll get a better picture after the Maskaev fight.

Can somebody please explain how Peter can be ranked as #2 over Chagaev, Ibragimov & Maskaev?

Briggs gave Lewis hell for a couple of rounds didn't he? The Pineapple has skills. Good power, fast hands & good accuracy. His biggest flaw, especially lately is stamina, but all you have to do is land flush once with that power. Shannon has those fast combo hooks to the body & head................

Liakhovich beat Brewster & Guinn by showing grit, power & some good ol' boxing.

That's more the WBC's fault than anyone else's with the exception of Don King. :D

So you're saying "a win is a win"?

I don't believe in that ****. I absolutely have to take into account how a fighter won. Was it a KO or easy decision or a hard fought battle or even a close or disputed decision. That kinda **** matters to me.

its arguable imo. some will say peter gave wlad his toughest fight. but i find it amusing the way The Ring trashes wlad almost making him sound like a bum at times. nevertheless, that argument can hold when u couple his wins over toney. true, toney wasn't very good at the time but he was still a legit top 10. chagaev can be argued has the best wins: virchis, ruiz, valuev. sultan can be said to have demonstrated the best skill set. maskaev knocked off a top 5 hw in rahman in devastating fashion. valuev is a hard sell though. the point is, wlad is on top and everyone else is trying to get a foothold on #2.

The problem is, the more we see of these guys the worse they look
eg mccline vs peter, chagaev vs skelton, iggy vs holyfield. Nobody wants to step forward.

i had it for peter by 1 or 2 pts. peter deserves a lot of credit for that win. i don't know if there are any hws today who could have survived 3 brutal "slips" like that and survive. he outworked mccline to a very sloppy decision. but mccline handed him that fight on a silver friggin platter.

so a win is good no matter what. however, i agree it's better to dominate and get a big ko rather than to taste the canvas three times and eek out a win. i'll tell u this though, that rep for having an "Iron Chin" went up in smoke. still, he's no bum and should be handfull for most anyone.

Chagaev has a better resume than Sultan. i think ruslan should be ranked at #2.

the ring is just following its policy, it would be crap if they went against their rules and made wlad the champ for beating the number 6 contender.

wlad is looked upon as the best hw on the planet anyway, ring belt or not.

All good points........but I do give Peter extra credit for having shown the tenacity to fight through the adversity of being knocked down 3 times in 2 rounds. I really do, but that wan't even remotely a "dominate showing" and McCline is barely ranked between 20-30 at HW.
