Hm, not sure about the shutout, as I definitely didn't think Cruz won the first, but no problem with giving her the clean sweep in the next six straight (er, five and a quarter).

Scorecards aside, the commentators pointed out that they isolated a cut that they believe actually caused the punch, so this maybe ought to have actually been a TKO victory for Cruz.

 

End of an era. Three division champ (and hopefully soon to retire now) Mrdjenovich has worn a world title belt for the majority of the last sixteen years.

 

She seems like a sweet girl in her victory interview, and was happy to bring pride to Mexico with a road title capture, but - Serrano will absolutely carve Cruz up.

 

Johnathon Banks now faces the tough assignment of convincing his fighter that she shouldn't chase that one last rematch. Because she just isn't capable of beating a Cruz at this point.
