pacquiao has taken on the 3 top welters already when the weight was stacked just 2 years ago. floyd has fought one and it's just right timing that he was the #1 ranked. pac based on his current resume at the weight surpasses floyd. and there was no best (champion), they still has to fight it out to know who is the best at the weight.

But if you are the champ, you don't lose your title just because somebody else beats the other top contenders (Ignore the shenanigans of sanctioning bodies who strip titles in boardroom meetings). Instead they become the #1 contender.

Unless Mayweather is definitely not fighting until after May 2011, then he should stay number #1 champ, Pacquiao #1 contender and they fight for the linear championship.

    P4P #1 = Pacquiao.
    WW #1 = Mayweather.

Pacquiao weighing in as a WW for a bout at Light Middle shouldn't have any effect on the WW rankings.

floyd could not just fight once a year and expect to hold his shakey position as the welter top dog. other fighters who are more active than him is expected to go up in ranks when someone is not too active. it's the same case with mosley before floyd fought him. pac or someone else at welter was on the verge to get the spot unless he becomes (more) active. it's a pretty good decision by the ring.

Mosley was not the Ring champ. He was just the #1 ranked welter.

Welterweight was a bit scrambled with Cotto beating Mosley, Margo beating Cotto, then Mosley beating Margo.

Mayweather beating Mosley got him only the #1 rank. He was not granted Ring champ status with that win.

Pac's wins over DLH, top five rated welters Cotto & Clottey and the former top five rated welter Margo is now seen by the Ring as more worthy to the #1 rank than Mayweather's win over Mosley and JMM.

so what? fact remains is they are still the two absolute best in the sport the rankings mean fukk all right now because they are still the two very best....what the fukk does the ranking do for these two at this moment in their careers? NOTHING.....i swear some people are like kids round here.

If you would like give Pac all the number ones shyt....however he still has not beat the other best fighter of this generation or era and consequently no matter how you like its not definitive till they meet and if they dont meet then its a black eye for boxing!

I for one like a number of other boxing followers still do not feel he is the best boxer he is the most accomplished no doubt but not the best boxer.....hopefully we can get a for sure answer soon.....2011!

It is a true statement... If Floyd DOES beat Pac it will make Floyd look even better. Nothing but truth here...

I hope two fighters can make concession. Years are passing by. They are both getting older. They are both depending on the speed and reflex. Still hoping until next year:bbb:bbb

It would be impossible for him to not get his credit. Manny is so beloved in the media that their couldn't be any excuses if Floyd were to school him in the ring.

Either way we all know how rankings work in this day and age. I don't see how someone fighting an opponent in another weight division all of a sudden affects their positioning in their normal weight division. But I don't really have a problem with it either, because regardless I still see Floyd beating Manny by UD if they ever fight.:good

My family doesn't have to go a week without groceries just to afford a PPV like yours do. Why do you do that to your mother and girlfriend?
