Floyd and pac were both close front runners. Floyd would have spent the full decade in the top ten had he not retired. Pac finished the decade very strongly. That combined with his legacy wins over em, mab and jmm justify his place imo.

Based on divisional dominance, I'd tend to agree. In fact, I think Monzon's run is among the best ever in any division, all-time. It was during this conversation I dug up and posted your avatar.

However, Duran has that plus wins over Palomino, Kobayashi and Marcel inside the decade. :hat

    It's certainly a close call.

All those defenses and then to ride off into the sunset as an undefeated champion...
Duran I put second to Monzon as far as his championship reign is concerned...Ali is third.

For me, the 1970-89 era in boxing can't be topped. I'll admit there being a larger talent pool of greats during the 30s-40s, but for pure exhilaration nothing tops my sweet aforementioned. Too many badass fighters and so many fights to enjoy at the drop of a hat.

I always consider george to be the cutoff for a regular hw. Anyone bigger than foreman is a super hw by my book.

Am I the only one who thinks Calzaghe over Marquez is a joke:roflm Calzaghe is rated too high IMO. At most he should be #10. and Sanchez at #3? too high, Top 10, but not at #3.

It is a bit of a joke really. How long was joe p4p ranked? I know he got to number 3 at one point.

From 06 till retirement he was quite highly regarded though.

I'd replace Hopkins with Hamed for 1990s.

Not too bad a call in reality as both were considered the best of a weak division.
