    Hagler fans

    Duran fans

    Hearns fans

Supposedly being born with a percieved 'silver spoon' and being a 'pretty boy'. :patsch

That's a lot of people he upset. Every person who dislikes him falls into one of those catergories.

Tbh I think this whole silver spoon bull**** is nonsense. I could understand why people would have said that at the beginning of his Ray's career, but not after what he went through in the ring and what fans have seen him accomplish in the ring. Hes showed his toughness worth and heart on many different occasions, he was the real deal. If people can still dislike him after all that then good luck to them.

I enjoyed it. It was popcorn viewing.

I would've preferred the line if questioning to be a bit less sugary and a bit more spicy. But I wasn't expecting that so I wasn't let down.

There's room for a spin-off from 'Ringside' with interviews like that. The list of names is never ending.

Interesting what Leonard says about the second Duran fight, he dismissed Dundee when prompted and said it was down to his brother Roger who gave him key psychological advice. In Dundee's book and in other places, the Leonard win over Duran as one of his best achievements.

I have bought Leonard's book, but havent got around to reading it yet, but I am interested to read about his break up with Dundee as it wasnt a nice ending. Still, be good to hear his side.

Doubt it, it has really improved and got better.

Also, I thought they did a great detailed interview with Leonard tonight, very thorough and professional job.

Hope not, its OK and certainly better than nothing.

  7. I'm not sure I fall into any of those categories tbh.

He just seemed (obviously he retired a while back) like a bit of a calculating twat.

Obviously he fought everyone so you can't give him the Floyd treatment, but there's just something about him that I just can't stand. Not sure I know what it is really..... he just gets on my nerves.

Just ordered the book, hope its as interesting as that interview.

  10. Not specifically, seriously.

Because I can only really go on what I can watch and read (such as Four Kings) - the things that went on with all the flunkies and what not around him, like Mike Trainer, thinking they ruled God's green earth because they knew Ray Leonard.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a Leonard emerge right now, would put all these manufactured pretenders like Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan to shame.

I've never once laid into Leonard as a fighter, just as a person. Unlike (say) Haye. Who was a crap fighter and 100000000000000000000000000000000000 x the ****/joke/pretender that Leonard could ever have dreamed of being.

 Come on give the fella his props, he has a decent record, and for all his bitching and crying outside the ring, his fights with Madiana and Peterson show that hes no pretender.

Mike Trainer was a bit more than a flunkie BB.

  13. Khan wasn't the best example, I admit, he fits into the Silver Spoon category perfectly.

I just don't like all this ''I'm not fighting if he gets X'' or ''I offered.....'', I identify much more with the ''outsider'' types (such as Hagler) or whoever, who just got on with it and went about their careers as best they could.

That's why I always afford myself a smile when a highly touted/paid ''prospect'' whether any good or not gets beaten..... just can't help it. It's only going to get worse too.... some pretty poor fighters are given the red carpet treatment these days.

Right you are Gaz, in fact, above almost any other person in Ray's camp, hes the one that Ray gives the most credit to. And to be fair Trainers minded his career very well, kept Leonard away from the sharks and always got hima good deak.
Maybe you have a point, I still think Khan gets some shtick thats slighthy undeserved though.

Yeah, because all those men he beat just rolled over.

And Ray beat Hagler, whatever people say. It wasn't a robbery, it was a close fight where Marvin threw away the early rounds.

Hagler, much as I admire him, had a chip on his shoulder all those years. It makes his opinions on Ray, etc a little suspect.
