Nothing wrong with Nelson as a presenter, yes, his predictions are crap, and his old fighting nickname ('the Entertainer') was one of the great jokes. The REALLY irritating bloke who appears regularly, is bl**dy McGuigan!! Like a leprechaun on speed, drowns out everyone else, won't share the broadcasting space, AND, is a ludicrously bad analyst (considering he was decent fighter).
Nobody knows the trouble you feel Nobody cares the feelin' is real Johnny, we're sorry, won't you come on home We worry, won't you come on What is wrong in my life That I must get drunk every night Johnny, we're sorry won't you come on... back to Ringside !!!!
Johnny's alright, maybe has issues with auto-cue who cares, he's an ex-pro, ex-world champ who is very knowledgable and I watch it for the boxing. If you dont like dont watch! Simples!
Nelson is bad, but you've obviously not seen Ortis Deley: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L3g02nsGvw[/ame] 0:45 seconds in
The only reason he is on Ringside is so that Sky are showing that they are doing their bit employing black guys imo. Im not being racist but thats it for me because they dont have Johnny Nelson on there for his presenting skills. I have nothing against the guy, he tries his best and Ringside is a top programme but if Sky are determind to have a black guy co-presenting then they should have got Duke McKenzie. He talks sense and has a vast knowledge of the sport.
I find Johnny ok, it's simple for me, the guy comes with great credentials.. He was a long standing world champion, that for me is a massive +. He has a personality, can talk too. I think you have to have been at a certain level for other fighters to listen to you and respect you.. There is no denying that Johnny has been at that level, from a personal point of view, when I've spent time with him he's been cool. I'll say this, I've spent a fair bit time with some arseholes and snakes and he's deffo nothing like that IMO ;-)
