Mike Alvarado has fought a wicked string of fights as of late. I think he really could use a softer opponent to build his confidence before fighting Rios for the third time. His aggressive style and willingness to take one to give one are two of the key attributes that have made him an exciting fighter that fans love to watch. However, that very style, coupled with the fact that he has been facing top opposition, is the reason that he has taken so much damage in the ring in his last four outings. I wish Mike the best, but I can't help but feel like he's been thrown to the wolves these last few fights. A small step down in competition and a confidence-building fight would be much better for his career and his health at this point. If he were to do well in that type of fight, he would be better prepared to get right back in the ring with the top guys of his division.
