How long before he outgrows 140lbs. I remember Corrales went from Lightweight to Welterweight without passing go. He is one of my favourite fighters as he always brings the heat but this is bull**** right now

That's the problem. If he knew he couldn't make the weight it's ridiculous. But I get the feeling he thought he could do it, hence the nutritionist. I think that was he last chance at making 135, and the nutritionist didn't help one bit.

Theres also a question of motivation. Would he be more motivated to lose the weight if he was fighting Gamboa rather than Abril? Possibly.

If it was unprofessional or not, he NEEDS to move up next!

Aye, like you say he may have thought he could do the weight, maybe the motivation should've been keeping 100% of his purse. If he signs another fight at 135 I'll shake my head.

Agreed. He will seriously get hurt if he stays there any longer. It's not as if there isn't any decent fights at 140 for him!

Plenty of fights at 140 for him, as you say, and he'll still hold the same advantages over the majority of opponents there as he does at 135.

They ought to make him spar Lee Selby for 12 rounds as punishment.

    **** the 45k.

 Everyone around him is a mug. Did they not see the HBO video where he looks like a deadman walking.

I hope HBO did another video, I'd like to see him fail again.

He needs to move up or drastically change his life style, in between fights also.

Im sorry but that is absolutley pathetic. He gt his title taken off him in his last fight for not making weight and now hes done it again.

Not being able to make the weight is a bit wierd. Look how soft he is.

I know about conditioning and its all about muscle, fat and water weight. He has plenty of fat and water and it looks like he jus ttries to shift water to weigh in. Thats going to cause him to look very drained. Loosing water will also allow him to out a lot on before the fight which is what most fighters love to do now.

I think he needs to get a better diet and exercise plan for making weight. Im not saying he doesnt already do this or that it wont be hard to make weight. But i think he could probably make adjustment that will allow him ti make the weight a lot easier. Body fat percentage down, a bit like frankie gavin.

Even though i say this, it wont be long until he has to move up regardless. Im just saying that he can make it easier for himself based on what i have seen.

  10. Not sure why some fighters are so averse to moving up.... Mosley went from 135 to 147 in one swoop, then faced DLH a fight or two later.

I'd much rather have a skills advantage than a size one too. A highly skilled 'little guy' will waste a weight cutter more often than not. Pacquaio vs Cheato, Hatton,
Diaz spring to mind, as does Floyd vs Ortiz, Baldomir and Marquez vs Katsidis.

    Yet the penny never drops.

Absolutely. And I didn't blame Gamboa for not taking the fight. You could see this happening a mile off.

    Spot on.

I also don't understand why he's so desperate to kill himself to campaign at lightweight when there's so much opportunity at 140 and 147.

Because a lightwelter calling out featherweights would just look stupid.
