The combination of Abril's talent, perfect gameplan, and Rios's failure to make weight and rehydrating 15-20lbs gives us these results. Wilfredo Vasquez Jr gave a great commentary on this by the way. Too much weight on the body to the legs and making a weight you can't anymore takes out alot, but this already happened once before to Rios bad decision making and took Abril's challenge for granted. Credit to the underdog Abril for executing a successful gameplan. There will be no excuses if they ever did rematch at 140 this one will haunt Rios for a long time.

 

thats the general concensus, Yeah abril won... but the disgraceful way he fought kind of made a lot of people happy that he didn't win.. The hugging spoiling and running was a bit to much, I paid $55 i don't know about these little cubans around here crying but I put up my money to watch a fight, not some wrestling show... clnching spoiling and running should never be rewarded, So yeah Abril won, but I'm kind of happy he didn't.... And RIOS was over rated even by ME...I've aborted the train LOL and accepted he is just an action fighter, not elite never will be... Ortiz has a better chance at become elite then this dude... he can't cope with a boxer that will clinch and spoil the fight or who is bigger then him or same size and I can say that who knows how the gamboa fight would have gone, I don't know if Gaboa would have clinched this much, but I think it would have been a real fight not some wrestng match robbing the fans of a good fight... then these cubans wonder why they don't have fan, and don't get the decisions... who is gonna pay money to see bull**** like that? no one... not even Mayweather does that **** a real slick mother****er, he at least boxes his heart out. and uses the philly shell to great effect, no need to clinch.

 

I'm still a fan of Rios, but he needs to take a page from Alfredo Angulo's book and see what he does to hugger's and clinchers. I know trying to make weight and then adding too much might of taken something out of Rios, but you have to give credit to Abril despite using a spoiler, stinker type style he was still boxing his ears off. Que se ponga trucha Rios can't fight everyone the same way. The way he was just looking at the floor in close quarters, no waist movement, and not knowing how to cut off the ring was frustrating the hell out of me. Rios can't afford to be a slow starter all the time either. There's going to be times he's going to have to disrupt a faster opponents rhythm just because he's a brawler doesn't mean he can't be smart about it.

 

Rios didn't live up to the hype and got beat by a relativity unknown fighter. Simple as that.

 

Or maybe I'm not an emotional prisoner of the moment ******, who lacks the the ability to see alternate perspectives, and recognize that judges haven't responded well to the holding, running, spoiling style. What I "know" or "don't know" about boxing has been demonstrated to those I would give a **** about. By the way...who the **** are you?

 

I was drunk as **** but did think he lost the fight. Was surprised as hell they gave him the W. That was a boring ass fight from Abril though.

Look did abril won by many eyes of fans? Sure but in all honesty i'm glad he didnt get the decision cause he fought like a coward in which he was clinching like crazy. And you must of forgot this fight was on ppv in which hardcore fans have to order 49 bucks or more (if its hd then the price must be 59 bucks) to see a fight not a wrestling match. And i dont know why abril fought scared cause he should know that he fought a very weak weight drain rios.
