Rios got a gift. He lost that fight 10-2. Say what you want about Abril's style but it's boxing, not toe to toe. Abril put on a clinic with Rios. Rios couldn't deal with the style.
As I said in another thread, "Abril lost because two judges deducted points for his excessive holding. A judge has the right to do that even without a referee's request. They also felt that Abril was fighting to survive and not to win. He was overly defensive and they gave Rios credit for his aggression and for a higher number of punches landed. Like it or not that is why Abril lost. I originally gave Abril 9 out of 12 rounds but I can see a judge deducting points from Abril even if I wouldn't have".
This is a very intelligent way to explain the win... but most fans won't feel this way.. I still think RIOS lost but that is a creative way to defend the win.
Since when judges take points for holding? is this a new excuse? did Arum instruct them for this?... come on flatlander, you came clean this morning, change of hearts?
As you can see by my username i am a Bam Bam rios fan he definitely clearly lost the most you can give him is 4 rounds and i am being generous.I thought it was gonna his hardest because of the fact hes very tall and Cuban but i never thought it would be this hard.I do think however it was the weight issue that stop him being effective you can in this fight and the majority of the Murray fight the weight was the issue.
You most be the worst fan ever or the less knowledgeable, or both, or a hater, or an idiot, or all of the above... Abril make Rios his b1tch and that's it.
It's not that Abril was clinching, but that he stopped punching after round 6. If he had kept on landing clean shots, AND then grabbing, he would have won, but Rios closed the gap and landed the only work being landed in the clinch. Rios won 7-11 on my card and eeked out a win in a **** performance from him.
I'm a Rios fan. I didn't give him ONE round. It was a 12 rd sweep by Abril. Still a Rios fan though. Abril's style and height advantage was just all wrong for Rios. I highly disagree with the consensus on Abril fighting an ugly fight. He utilized the jab, footwork, and distance very nicely. Landed some nice straight rights. He had an effective game plan and stuck with it no matter how much pressure Rios was applying. Pretty amazing how Rios wasn't able to land anything each time Abril buried his left shoulder into Rios' chest and rolled with the punches. If you can't appreciate this you're pretty much tasting sour grapes.
Rios fan. Team Rios t-shirt came in the post on Tuesday. Abril won the fight. I thought it was about 8-4 Abril, some rounds were tight but the only clear rounds were Abril's and there were a few of them. Clear lack of energy for Bam Bam, he'll move up after this, but I would like to see Abril-Gamboa at 135.
Abril clearly did win at least 9 out of 12, which means you would have had to deduct seven ****ing points for that piece of **** Rios to get the win. Have you ever in your life seen a fighter deducted seven points during the course of a single fight for ****ing anything? I haven't... Not even close. Here's a far more plausible explanation: Two of the three judges decided to score the fight for that ****ing scumbag Rios no matter what, and that's exactly what they did. **** them, **** Bum Bum and **** you for trying to come up with some alternate explanation for this obvious robbery because your biggest claim to fame is having known that *****, you fat ****. :finger5
