You do realize that Manny is fighting several weight classes above his normal weight right? Manny gets no advantage from gaining that weight just as Brandon gets none from having to lose extra weight. Boxers have been dehydrating and starving themselves before fights for decades. You act like it is something new. I hate the fact that boxing talking heads now make a mention of fighters at fight time weight. It should be irrelevant.

Manny is very acclimated to this weight and would struggle to reach 140 at this stage. He put on the weight in a very balanced way so that it's not a hindrance to his high energy performance.

It's not something new, but certain fighters cut excessive weight in order to have a size advantage over their opponents in the ring. Rios did this at 135 where he made a name for himself as a top fighter. Pavlik, Ortiz (at 140) and Chavez Jr also did this. And todays there's new methods to lose the water weight and rehydrate that not every fighter may have access to so it becomes an issue.

 

It is only an issue to those that wish it to be.

You are not far wrong. Brandon has suffered from A.D.H.D and has a severe learning disability. He is not unintelligent however.
