Rios was assured that if he were to win Rios vs Alvarado III he would very soon after fight for a title or at least a title elimination bout. Rios beat Alvarado soundly. Most felt he did so because Alvarado was ill prepared and distracted. I think Top Rank had expected Alvarado to beat Rios and since he did not they reneged and put Rios on hold. Rios was in the best shape physically and mentally ever. He dominated and stop Alvarado. Granted Rios was not the only fighter this happened to but none the less it effected him mentally and later physically. He was over the top excited after a dominating win and he did not get the credit or reward for it.

Well luckily Brandon and his brother Tony live a long way apart. Brandon's Dad Manuel is fairly quiet but Brandon's Mom is like Brandon on speed. They are good people though.

I mean Rios was given a title bout with Bradley after just over 9 months. It's not like they were keeping him inactive a la Rigondeaux, and that's not the kind of length between fights you can really blame a promoter for. He still got 2 fights in the calendar year of 2015. And I seriously doubt Top Rank or anyone else really expected Alvarado win that fight; he was clearly shot going into it.

I see your point but I think when the fight was first made, most at Top Rank thought that Alvarado had learned how to out box Rios and would do so again. Your other points are very accurate and well taken and I agree.
