He's not a bad fighter, Escobedo, but he's certainly not a ''top'' fighter by any means. I think I suggested him as a way for Broner to bed in at lightweight(a fight which incidentally looks like happening, albeit at 130), he's at that gatekeeper sort of level, and will probably remain there until he's retired/shot.

I don't think Rios would be ''manning up'' if he were to fight him, seeing as he took on a Miguel Acosta who was at the height of his powers. Strange. Unless I've read BA's post incorrectly, in which case I apologise.

Never liked Gamboa. Hopefully, this makes a Donaire fight more likely down the line, one in which he'd get beaten IMO.

You will very likely find that Arum is only willing to put this fight on if Gamboa signs some multi-fight deal. This would be 'carrot' dangled as part of an agreement.

Top fight if it comes off. I fancy Rios by lat KO but pray for Gamboa to win. I simply think Rios is too big and too powerful for Gamboa. Gamboa will have success and be quicker to the punch but as soon as he gets caught flush he will be on ***** street. I see a few k/d's throughout before a late stoppage about 8-10 rounds in.

    Gamboa would decimate Donaire.

I fancy Gamboa to beat both Donaire and Rios to be honest, though Rios's mixture of being a big lightweight on top of being a pressure fighter would give him more problems than Donaire would.

I reckon Donaire could beat Gamboa, if they fought at Featherweight. Gamboa looked a bit tame vs Ponce De Leon, but when he looks aggressive he leaves lots of openings to be hit and Donaire thrives on opponents who give him opportunities to counter as opposed to those who go looking. If they fought any higher than Super Featherweight, Gamboa would probably be too much for Donaire though.
