No chance. Gamboa would come at him and lead off, which is just what Doniare would want. I think he'd counter Gamboa, hurt him, and finish him. Early.

Gamboa's a fanny though if he's really going to pull out.

He's getting a good purse for this fight and it's really a no lose situation for him. If he wins it'll be fantastic for his career but if he can't pull it off he can move back down to 126/130 and fight on.

Donaire's staying at 122 for now i'm on his facebook and he's been mentioning it in last few days that he's sticking around.

I'm not convinced Donaire's power carries up to 122lbs, let alone upwards of 126lbs.

He won't hit hard enough to hurt the big guys IMO.

Dissapointing news. Hope it's not off. It's a fight Gamboa would win.

Nonito would knock Gamboa out imo. Maybe they're saving him for Broner.

Think the Vazquez performance made him realise it's not really that easy to motor up the weights.

Rios moves up and Donaire fights Gamboa then?

Still a great fight imho, not too arsed either way as long as one of these fights come off.

I don't think he'll hit hard enough to hurt the top guys at 122lbs to be honest. I don't expect him to fight Rigondeaux, but I'd put money on Rigo in that fight - and for him to make Donaire look 'boring' in the process. Don't think there's much danger of him stopping Nishioka either.

The weight of the fight would obviously be an issue with as you say, the higher the weight the greater it favours Gamboa. But to me Donaire is the technically better fighter.

Gamboa obviously has great speed and decent power but I reckon he's lacking tactically. Barros, by no means on the same level as Donaire, caused him problems by giving him something to think about and making him adjust. Donaire with his counterpunching accuracy would fluster him and cause him to leave openings in my mind which would be taken advantage of. Outsmarting Gamboa is not a particularly hard thing for an elite fighter to do I wouldn't have thought and I'd think Donaire's style would give him a bit of a nightmare in truth.

No - because Donaire's still a Top Rank fighter. If he's going to sign with Mayweather he'll be handled by Al Haymon and effectively promoted by Golden Boy. A fight with Broner at 130lbs somewhere down the line, maybe a fight with Gary Russell, Jr in a couple of years.

Don't forget, this is the same Gomboa who often switches off on fights and has been down a few times before.

I still think Doniare will hit hard enough moving up in weight. His last few opponents haven't tried to win an have covered up. When someone comes at him, it's lights out ala Montiel and Vic

I'm glad about that. He has a good amount of challenges at Super Bantamweight- Nishioka hopefully next who he'd comfortably beat in my opinion, Rigo possibly down the line (a fight I'd also favour him in) and even Mares who's stepping up in weight too.

Though I hope he forgets about Abner for fear of the decimation it could result in.
