My angle was that Gamboa a top rank fighter would fight Donaire whom is also under top rank, in house fight as per usual of Arum

Broner v Rios is a fight that could be made, less of a jump in weight and Broner is big anyway.

    Donaire v Gamboa
    Broner v Rios.

I would take that and be vary happy too:yep

Aye but my point is that the speculation is the fight is off as Gamboa may have signed with Mayweather Promotions. The presser was all set, and he didn't show up and it doesn't appear that Top Rank and HBO were aware he wasn't going to show up.

Good points. Donaire would definitely outsmart Gamboa I think. Either Yuri fights rather tamely as he did vs Ponce De Leon, where Donaire would just outland Gamboa and win a comfortable decision, or Gamboa comes out aggresively and just leaves himself open for Donaire to counter. Donaire, as I said, is at his best when his opponent leaves himself open, and the occasionally wild Gamboa would find himself getting picked apart vs Donaire at Feather I beleive. Even if Donaire didn't stop Gamboa, he could land enough to deter him and maybe even put Yuri on the back foot where he won't land much at all and Donaire can dictate the pace.

    :deal

The first Diaz fight as well, although more likely to see a brutal cuts stoppage rather than knockout IMO, would definitely be a fun fight though:freddy

IMO Gamboa-Donaire would be a bit of an anti-climax. I'd expect Gamboa to box 'within himself' like he did against Salido or PDL and not take many risks and Donaire would struggle to break him down.

LP...imaging Rios against a pre-JMM (or even pre-Nate Campbell) Juan Diaz. Now that's a fight!

I find the extent of the fanfare Gamboa gets a tad bizarre, personally. Solis & Mtagwa(only included because I'm sure someone will be pedantic enough to mention him:yep) aside - has he been that impressive? I've watched an awful lot of him, and since he's stepped up to world level, when he hasn't blown his man away early he's either A) coasted for a sizable chunk of the fight, being minimalist in his work and using his reflexes/athleticism in order to avoid anything that may come his way, a tendancy which has led to him losing rounds here and there or B) gotten completely reckless when going on the attack, showing zero defensive responsibility and getting dropped/caught cleanly in the process of doing so, all the while showing a complete lack of balance and composure.

That's not to say I don't rate him or anything, because of course it's evident that he has an abundance of talent, possessing P4P potential. But he's still kind of unproven to me, I certainly don't rate him as highly as a lot of people do. I think he can reach a level many believe him to be at. All my opinion of course.

His record and performances thus far pale in comparison to Donaire's, in my opinion. If he were to win it'd more than likely be due to Nonito being unable to carry the weight well, because in terms of ability/styles match-up I can't see how Gamboa is superior.

I think Donaire would lay waste to Nishioka though.

I reckon he'd win about 9-10 rounds and dominate him, a stoppage would surprise me personally.

Nishioka is open once you dictate the range against him, which Donaire would do. Nishioka might well limit his punch output and move which could stunt Donaire's progress but I reckon he blasts the Jap early.

wasn't the whole point behind bringing Nishioka over for Marquez that eventually the Nishioka vs Donaire fight would happen?
