Abril's decent and rangy but doesn't have a lot of pop....Rios will most likely win by KO mid-late rds after losing a few rounds allong the way. He's better than Murray who gave Rios some trouble last time out and Rios has certainly been troubled by lesser fighters.... Abril might be the 2nd best fighter Rios has faced in his career. Abril just beat Acosta more convincingly than Rios (granted Acosta looked like he was unmotivated and going through the motions a bit but it was only a few months after rios beat him in a back and forth war so it's still a pretty legit win). Most people feel Abril deserved the nod vs Prescott which was awarded an SD for Prescott and his only other loss to Lundy seems suspicious as Lundy was awarded an SD over Abril in Boston but I haven't seen the fight so can't comment on if Luindy got a gift or not.
I have never watched Abril fight but I guess if he could box a little he has a chance. If Rios doesn't cut weight properly, Abril's chances will increase. I think I will go on youtube and find some Abril fights...
What *******, Abril is an unknown fighter! I keep up with boxing... I just never got a chance to see Abril fight! We all know the only fighter you follow is Floyd "Money" Mayweather... You ride his cawk 24/7 and you have the nerve to call someone else out? Get your Rea-**** arse outta here!
He still takes money from Arum, also a main reason he always sh*ts on Golden Boy, Gary Shaw & DiBella.
Abril's lack of serious pop (he ain't featherfisted but not powerful by any means) is what's gonna hurt him most in this one....he seems to have a good chin but there's question marks around it since he hasn't faced a big puncher to date. Rios by mid-late KO after a fairly close fight, if Rios has a lot of trouble with the weight again though who knows, he shoulda bombed out Murray with ease. This fight is dumb as hell for Rios though....unless he gets Gamboa or JMM at 135 there's absolutely no reason for him to keep killing himself to make weight....no ones saying "you know what that Rios better take care of this Abril character before moving up or his LW reign was BS!".... there's bigger money and bigger names at 140, it makes no sense why they would keep him at 135 where he risks losing being drained.
Abril seems ok, a huge letdown from Gamboa, but I don't see this as an HBO fight. Unless he gets someone like JMM or Gamboa then Rios should look to move up in weight. I'm hoping the Gamboa fight can be saved but it looks it isn't happening.
