I was watching this fight with old school Mexican boxing fans that been watching since the days of Pajarito Moreno. Of course they wanted for Rios to win, but hey, if whatever style the other guy brings you have to figure it out like my pops says "Que no se le cierre el mundo. Here I am showing them this Mexican American sensation and at the end they all just shaking their heads in disgust. "Brandon and his team no one to blame, but themselves. Its that simple. This IMO might be what I think deterred Rios a legit victory and are questions that need answers. 1. If Brandon had trouble making weight for Murray, why was the same mistake repeated twice? 2. What was the point of fighting for the belt at 135 and in the event Bam Bam won which he did, but didnt get the belt anyways wasn't he moving up to 140 anyways? Its obvious any fights with Marquez or Gamboa at 135 aren't going to happen and for Brandons sake do not come to fruition! I'm surprised Roberto agreed to let this happen. Before the fight I don't like to make predictions, but I knew Rios was looking past Abril. 3. Why does Rios not know how to cutoff a ring? Stalking, stalking, stalking, that won't work on Abril. And having trouble with hugging and clinches? Perro Angulo learned how to deal with both things very well. Not to diss on Bam Bam, but hey you gotta take the criticism as much as the praise man. If the fans are seeing it, the world is seeing it, no use trying to block the sun with a finger. Gotta take it like a man and be hombrecito. Hell a draw would of still been unfair for Abril, but for Arum to pull some mamadas like he did he obviously has some plans for Rios. I also think Rios had enough rage by Abril insulting him and calling him out more than anyone before so that wasn't an issue. Either Rios stays as far away as possible from Abril or take him on at 140. 135 shouldn't even be mentioned. Team Rios need to plan much smarter next time without a doubt from now on because now at least for the time being Abril just laid down the blueprint for Rios unless Rios can prove otherwise. Rios looked completely lost. Fue horrible, fue horrible!!!
Pac/Marquez? Kahn/Peterson? Williams/Lara? Williams/Matinez 1? In each of these cases it went to the guy making the fight. Well, Williams/Martinez is a poor example on some levels. Point is you never leave it in the judges hands yet Abril had EVERY intention of doing so. Fighters should know from the above decisions that aggression is rewarded by one segment of judges.
Fighters like April you call "Cuties". Lots of fancy moves, most of them ineffective. And usually, they cant break an egg. They are really good of stealing fights, trying to get people to perceive that they really won. Rios did have an off nite and did let April get away with showing his garbage. Hate those type of fighters --- "Cuties".
Abril was more effective by far than Rios despite being a "cutie" which is all that should matter. There was nothing in his effort that stole the fight from Rios, he won very clearly(you could easily make a case for a shutout, and at worst Abril lost three rounds). You can't give a guy a win he doesn't deserve simply because he's the more entertaining fighter in general, otherwise there's no point in having the fight in the first place.
Please, someone ban the ******. Hey, Flatlander, give this to Bum Bum for me: This content is protected
This is what I call a small little goat:good Excellent analysis and it's what I keep saying about Garcias school.
Rios needs to hire somebody to help him make weight in a safe manner. The only one to blame is Rios himself as this has happened 2 fights in a row. The consequences of not taking the making of weight seriously will result in his career being shortened and his health severely impacted.
