I haven't seen Acosta's last perfomances but he gave Rios a lot of problems and hurt him until he ran out of gas and Rios stepped it up.
**** that. rios is on to bigger and better things. but i wouldnt be surprised if arum starts to try to protect him like he does to most of his big fighters tho.
If Rios stays at 135 is just for a megafight vs Gamboa...otherwise he should move up for big names, already looked drained like **** on his last fight.
Abril bounced Acosta off the canvas several times and beat him. I thought Rios vs. Acosta was the FOTY, but this proves nothing for Rios now. At all. An immediate re-match would have been heaven, but now I don't like this fight. Maybe Arum is trying to give him a sell-able intro fight at 140 before matching him with Bradley?
Nah, Acosta almost quit the sport several years ago when he lost a few fights some odd years ago. He climbed as high as he was ever going to go then crashed all the way down. I don't think his hearts in it anymore. He's not super young either.
Despite 3 knockdowns one judge had Abril up by only one point? I'm gonna try catch this fight tomorrow if its on youtube
it was a really good fite . acosta had rios early on . but rios took his best shots n kept coming while acosta energy was fading . rios showed me alot that nite.
