Boxing has evolved, people. Duran was good for his day, but he's a caveman by today's standards. He was never very skilled even for his time, really. Just a wild brawler from what I've seen on the Youtube highlights of his fight with Ray Leonard. Everyone knows Ray (who's basically a primitive version of Money May) fought the wrong fight, anyway. In the rematch, he fought in the style he always did, which was to dance around a lot, and schooled Duran, who then quit because he was getting schooled so bad. Rios has skills they couldn't fathom in those old-timey days, and as such would probably force Duran to quit circa the 4th rather than 8th.
Give me a ****ing break Boom Boom. Rios would use his movement to outbox Duran. Duran couldn't deal with people who used movement. Just refer to the no mas fight.
Exactly. Any time an opponent moved against Duran he lost. All of his wins were under special rules bouts where he and his opponents were to face each other in close quarters, both of their feet cemented into the ground. I could beat Duran because I would just move. That's all you have to do.
I know you could beat Duran. Most of us could. It's not saying much. I'm also starting to think Marcel was given some sort of financial package to not move. That's the only reason Duran beat him.
