Kid, but animals can always be " tamed " with skills, speed and technique. Take a look at Rios' first 25 fights ( horrible opposition ) and compare it with Gamboa's opponents, it's night and day. Also, don't forget that Gamboa already fought at 136lbs and looked great! The weight factor will only be a disadvantage for Rios who will be starving himself to make 135 pounds while Gamboa will be stronger than ever. I believe on Gamboa's abilities and I don't let sizes, names nor hype impress me, it's all in the " skills ". Rios is a good tough fighter but has never ever faced someone as good as Gamboa. Gamboa is a monster. Saludos para ti tambien mi hermano Cubano! :good
You fail to mention that the other fighters that Rios faced that were not "horrible opposition" are better than anyone Gamboa has faced as a professional. Murray, Acosta, Antillon and Peterson are probably better than anyone Gamboa has faced. PDL is probably the highlight of Gamboas career now that I think about it. Stop being a nuthugger and be just a boxing fan.
Maybe you forgot that Gamboa defeated Marcos Ramirez ( 25-0 ), Orlando Salido ( World Champ and Lopez's conqueror ), Jorge Solis ( ex-World Champ ) and Ponce de Leon ( ex-World Champion ). Gamboa has defeated 3 back to back to back World Champions, when has Rios done that?
Well since none of us know or will never know how Gamboa or Rios would have done if they had fought each others past opposition. This we do know. Timing always trumps speed. Rios has exceptional counterpunching skills and he can time an opponent very well. Especially an opponent who comes in swinging wide punches like Gamboa does. This is going to be a tough fight for both of them but I know Rios will come out on top.
His best win was the salido one and he got KD in the process, RIOS is gonna destroy gamboa its a mismatch, RIP Cuban.
Rios has been down one time in his career and that was a long time ago. He took a knee after a wicked body shot. He then got up and won the fight. No one knocks Rios down 5 times, no one. :-(
Rios is an elite 135-140lber. Gamboa an elite 126lber. We don't know how he'll carry his speed and power or if it will stay the same. Either ways I see it as a close fight, but Rios is most dangerous late in the fight and that's most likely when a heavier Gamboa might be his most vulnerable. Gotta give the edge to Rios who like Gamboa is a beast in his own right.
Rios's chin is made out of this.... This content is protected His punches makes his opponents look like this.... This content is protected He's 5 years younger, stronger, has a 5" reach advantage, 4" taller, and will be 20-30 lbs heavier than Gamboa on fight night. Someone's O gots to go and it won't be Rios's. Gamboa must be leaving Top Rank because Arum is throwing him into the jaws of a lion. Gamboa will win the first few rounds but Rios will eventually take over winning by TKO in the late rounds. Let me give you an advice since I know you are a hardcore Mexican boxing supporter and I am a Cuban boxing supporter. Don't let your dislike for other countries get the best of you, racism only brings evil, pain and sufferings. Don't let your emotions get the best of you, yes support your favorite Mexican fighters without insulting the others from the other countries. It's great to discuss boxing without having to engage in nationalities differences, discussions or hate. Gamboa is no ordinary " Cuban " and he is going to prove it for you and for every other doubter here on fight night. I am not going to say more, I will just leave it in his hands. :good
