I would fancy the guy in your avy to give Rios a boxing lesson. None the less, Brandon was impressive last night. His left hook is a major weapon in the division.
Better competition? Acosta is an elite fighter, if Pacroid or Nonito has done this to a similar fighter they will b God by now, I'm sorry they already are on your mind.
Wow, I'm surprised people are bagging on this fight. I thought it was a pretty darn good action fight, with some notable offense by both fighters. Acosta was fit, athletic, and very sharp. Fought extremely well against the ropes and especially in the corner. Not just 'stay alive' counter shots either, flat out was comfortable tossing regular offense with his back to the buckles. That's a unique skill. Was able to fire punches from a lot of angles quite naturally, quick (if not blazing) and accurate. Rios, like Acosta, showed the ability to fire lots of offense from non-traditional angles. With power too, not just point-scoring arm punches. Aggressive, tough, and great endurance. Not as athletic as Acosta, but he didn't win by some miraculous punchers chance. Constant pressure, mixed with a superior ability to both give and take a punch won him the fight in the late going. He actually improved his defense in the middle of the fight, as well as got a better 'Low-Hi' combination set going late. He got better as the fight went along, instead of breaking down, which was impressive. I get everybody has to 'rank' fighters, but at times it can be overboard. We can use stuff like A/B/C level to rate a fighter over time, but boxing isn't a videogame. You don't check out a fighters 'stats' (Hmm.. Rios has a 89 in strength and 72 in athleticism..I better level him up!) and grade him like this was Madden. Boxing is a game of how dangerous a guy can be at the top of his game as well as how often he's at the top of his game. Everybody has flaws. Good fighters lose at times, and bad fighters win at times. Rios may have some holes athletically, but he's got a large frame, great endurance, good chin, power, and natural offense. That's a fighter dangerous to the best guys in his division. His challenge will be staying focused and keeping his endurance level high. If his work rate falls or he loses the gas to pressure fighters at the pace he showed in the Acosta fight, he'll be average.
This :good It needs to be said - too many keyboard warriors ruin a lot of threads lately with thier ****.
I agree. Nonito would knock him out. Nonitos left hook no one can stand up to except Pacquiao all time.
I agree. I have Mercita #4 on my P4P list behind Pac, Donaire and Penalosa. Mercitas resume is so deep I started reading it last week and still havent finished.
Wow someones still defending Preddy... the mother ****er is a monster his style is NOT to box its to seek and destroy, you dont like him fine, but beleive he will keep winning, Khan wont fight him, Preddy wont let that happen. Ohh and PS FYI Winning a world title kinda makes you elite........ doesnt get higher than being a world champ~
A lot of hate and jealousy in your post, do you know that is ok to like a boxer without having to denigrate others. By saying rios is good you're not taking away from pac or donaire. Rios is a good boxer that beat another good boxer. Acosta has been KO before so we cant get carry away but at the same time dont take anything away from Rios good win for him. :hat
