For the older guys here who lived in the tri state area in the 1980's, Art Rust Jr ,who was the man on 77WABC has passed away.He was a man who loved boxing and was a walking encyclopedia of that sport.He had guests such as Willie Pep , Ali, Graziano, Lamotta , Ray Arcel, Jose Torres, Coley Wallace etc on his show and all his guests too phone calls from listeners, something that does not happen today.I credit him with getting me interested in Boxing and will forever be thankful to him for that.
Yes, I got the word when it 1st happened and I sent it out to 1,000's of boxing people. He was a Great sports and boxing historian.
He collaborated with Joe Louis on his auto biography,it's a very good read. By all accounts he ws a very knowlegeable man on boxing ,and also a very nice guy ,which isn't a given in this business.
