Saw Bert live a couple of times, including against Holy. Not the most dedicated to training in the history of the sport but came to fight and could be a tough out for anyone. There was a rumor going around for some time that Bert was Joe Frazier’s illegitimate son — which makes sense in a lot of ways (Joe took Bert under his wing, he used Joe’s nickname, think he may have even lived in Joe’s gym for a time) but was never proven (at least not publicly).
Sad loss. Hard man. Was still pretty coherent in interviews too. RIP to one of most colorful HW characters ever.
Always a big fan of Cooper. Someone was gonna hit the canvas every time he stepped in the ring. Didn't know he was so ill. RIP. A classic for you all to enjoy in the man's honour. This content is protected
Sad news. I followed almost all of his career. First saw him on ESPN in 1985. He certainly brought a lot of excitement to boxing.
Sad news. RIP Burt. You entertained me on many an occasion and always remained a fighter fans could relate to.
