His achievment of holding the lineal title from middleweight to heavyweight will likley never be repeated.

what fitz did was great but the reason it won't be ever done again is because in fitz's time, black fighters weren't allowed to fight for the heavyweight title and the heavyweight fighters were not as big they would eventually become. just sayin'.

    Is that actualy fair?

Fitzsimmons won the title from Jim Corbett, who had held the best black heavyweight of the era (Peter Jackson 200lbs) to a draw.

Fitz did not draw the colour line himself.

He lost his title to Jim Jeffries (215lbs when he entered the ring).

He later demolished big guys like Gus Ruhlin and Ed Dunkhorst.

I think that the size of Fitzsimmons opponents would stack up in any era up to the 80s!

Bobby Fitz was roughly a mere age 52 or 53 when he croaked during the WW1 flu epidemic... Some claim he got pneumonia, but I think it was the flu virus.... Christ, people were dropping off like flies in 1917, 1918 and 1919 from the flu......

Incidentaly, lets take the worst possible view of Fitz's acomplishment.

Lets say that it was analogous to establishing lineage at midleweight, light heavyweight and cruiserweight.

    When will we see that?

good points but his accomplishment of the titles at three weights needs to be put into some kind of context. the light heavy title was in it's infancy at this point as well and was not a hotly contested title during this era. with all this said, it's still an amazing accomplishment, for any era.

You are right about putting it into context. The light heavyweight title did not come into existence until he was old and passed it and he still won it.
